He only had 1 goal vs the caps tho. I don't think anyone is saying zucc isn't a good player, I just think his regular shift compromises the teams ability to wear down teams. We already lack that, we have not one forward who can wear down the other team. You can say Callahan or hagelin if you want, but because of size and doing that they each now have a torn labrum to show for it. It's a job for bigger players and the same results next year are likely with the same roster makeup. Even the series we are winning are killing us for the long haul in a potential cup run

Look at it this way, if he signs a very generous contract he becomes a trade asset. As an example, look at Parenteau... he was one of ours and we let him walk. He could have been a really good trade chip for us if we held onto him.

Plus were without Callahan and Hagelin to start the year, so we need someone to play, MZA is a decent option. When the guys come back, MZA becomes expendable. Sather said he will resign him, he didnt say he was untouchable.

How many times do you think the 1992-1993 season was brought up during that conversation? Messier: Look, these people wanted to run me out of town on a rail as well. Just go win the Cup and everything will be fine.

Mess was booed & booed loudly that last game of the 92-93 season, never forgot that. But a small footnote after what happened the next yr. Don't think Richards gets that chance though.

Well, apparently, he told his caddy that he wasn't being bought out, and some people have vouged for the credibility of the caddy. But, I will admit, a golf caddy is probably a good source for inside scoop, as I am sure they hear alot of interesting stuff.

I wonder what kind of input AV will have on signing a MZA again, if he thinks it's a smart move for the type of roster he eventually wants. I like Zucc but completely echo the sentiments of his size and the need for another big 25g forward in his place. Also, Fasth could probably give you the same production if not more and he'll be here long term. No need for a smallish shootout specialist for 3y/ maybe 1 more at most.

He also told his caddy about a funny story involving his former roommate Mitch Cumstein!

To echo Pete's statement on hanging onto valuable assets, even if the Rangers don't trade MZA it may allow them to trade a similar but more expensive player knowing they have the depth to do so. No organization can have too many good hockey players. What if Calgary is willing to trade Glencross for Hagelin? We get a more physical forward with a bit more size to inject into the lineup. Keeping MZA might give Slats that option and allow him to feel more comfortable making that trade.

I might be in the minority but I would trade Hags for Glencross.

That wouldn't be a bad hockey trade, especially since Glencross has 2 years left on his deal at a very reasonable $2.5 million per. The Flames get younger and faster, and the Rangers get a tough vet that can put the puck in the net at a 20-25 goal clip. We just need to be a little careful of giving away too much of the team's speed.

Sorry gus, respectfully disagree. Like Hags' upside, will likely be cheaper than Glencross, is much younger and his speed will be a big asset.

Traditional trade market could be very active as well- chevy

Teams have contacted Jets about them moving down in the draft- Chevy hints at moving up as well

You know, every Greek guy isn't named "Gus". Sheesh!

Edit: I am not totally on-board with that trade either, but think it is definetely a reasonable debate to have. Not a pie in the sky trade either way.
