Whose spot will he take though? Assuming he plays in the AHL for a couple of years adjusting to the adult game.

I'm fine with going Thornton, Stepan, and Brassard down the middle this year, and sorting the rest out later.

honestly, want a logical option to replace richards if bought out or in general?

Hes listed as a RW.

Played mostly center in juniors, and then center Callahan and Kreider for a bunch of games this year. He can play either, but I always assumed he would be the heir apparent to the third line center position.

I think he was playing wing in juniors, and played RW a bunch here.

Joe Thornton would help the Rangers in three ways. First, they need another bonafide first line player, which they lost when Gaborik got traded and Richards forgot how to play the game. Second, the Rangers need size and he provides that. And third, I think he would fit great with Nash, and sign some beast to play on the left side to dig out pucks for those guys and take up space in front of the net.

Yeah, frank him. He's not the answer, and I don't want to part with Brassard.
- OLDSCHOOL#6

I do not think there is the slightest chance the Rangers are interested in trading Brassard, so when I see people write his name in these trade proposals I usually just glance past them.

Dont need to sign a stranger... Clowe is VERY familiar with playing the wing for Thornton.

I wasn't discounting him. Would still need to sign him. Him, or someone comparable, is what I should have said.

But we would still need to sign another player like him regardless for the 3rd line.

No. But, I am assuming I had some wild Tyutin trade scenario. I don't think there is a chance in hell Brassard gets traded prior to the season either. I would be interested in Thornton, however, if he was on the market, but I say the same thing every year.

I said this earlier today, doesn't anyone think it's a little strange that the Rangers hired AV, and they Canucks hired Torts?

I think it's crazy, but it actually makes a whole lot of sense at the same time.

I think both teams needed the exact opposite coach than they had and it's just worked out perfectly.

Oilers will NOT buy out Shawn Horcoff. Do not take that to mean a compliance by out will not be used in EDM however. Quite possible.
