Islanders need to get to the cap floor.
I could see something like Hamonic, Dehaan and the Islanders first for Luongo. - hankthetank

Wouldn't that be more of a kick in the nuts to Vancouver then anything? - cap1681
You'd think? After what that poor bastard has been through there I hope for nothing more than for him to succeed. Guy is a great goaltender with a bad contract but that's not his fault. Anyone of us would've signed that contract. I think he's going to do real good wherever he winds up, especially if it's a lower market team. |

If he isn't bought out by Friday, he will be traded.
I don't see MG skipping the buyout window unless he has a lead. |

Didn't you learn your lesson the other day on their thread? He's facking around at least the other trade proposals on there from other Canucks fans were serious - Cptmjl
I wish I had but damnit I started reading down the posts. I guess I can't help myself.

There are negatives and positives to this situation.
Contract length
Canucks cap situation
Mike Gillis' arrogance
The good
Manageable Cap Hit
Cheap
Good-Great numbers
At the end of the day, 29 people will decide if they want him or not. If none of them want him, he gets bought out this week.

There are about 15 teams that already won't. Maybe more like 20

To Florida: Luongo, Ballard and the rights to Raymond
To Vancouver: Bjugstad, Gudbranson and Florida's 1st.
I've suggested this before and most people agree that it's a good deal for both clubs. Panthers get the best goalie in the NHL, a solid top 4 d-man in Ballard and a proven top 6 forward in Raymond. The Canucks take on a couple of younger projects in Bjugstad and Gudbranson. They can take a chance with another prospect with Florida's pick. Canucks get younger and the Panthers get some nice pieces to put them over the top in the Eastern Conference. This is the kind of deal I could see happening. - hankthetank

I've dropped in a lot over the last year and have read about many, many imminent trades. |

The (not so) good
Manageable Cap Hit (until he's 43)
Cheap (for now, then cap albatross from 38-43)
Good-Great numbers (until he's 38 and then numbers decline but the albatross starts soaring)

Even if that happens, people are not going to say that, because his contract is terrible and nobody wants it.
But don't worry, nobody is trading for him so we will never know. |

This last year was a different year for everyone. Luongo was sad that's why he didn't play the way he can. When he wants to he can be the best goalie in the NHL like he has been for the majority of his career. But AV and the situation in Vancouver didn't help bring out the best in him. - hankthetank
