Is capgeek right when they say 1.4 for raanta? If so, then yeah there's no way they can keep Emery.
- fecondo

If we can't get a bought out Lu I like Emery as a vet to have along Mason. Ray has had some pretty kind words for the Flyers and the opportunity they gave him. If we give up a later round pick for him I think there won't be an issue getting a fair deal done.

I agree. I think they make the move to buyout Hossa.
- stveshdy

Would you look into Hossa for a 3 year deal rather than trading for Ryan?

Amazing how he jumped up to being a favorite of so many. Hes just a guy you dont have to worry about. Hell do his job, destroying some people along the way. The skating thing was way blown out of proportion, looked fine. I hope his brother rebounds, which I think he will. Its such a special thing to be able to play with a sibling in pro sports and these guys seem to get that and will do everything they can to take advantage of the opportunity.

Is like to see some offense outta him he's got a nice shot just gotta be a lil more accurate with it

Without question. A lot depends on what that cap hit will be.

The Hawks have about $2mm under the cap, and they have to re-sign, or replace, Bickell, handzus, Stalberg, Kruger, Leddy, Mayers and Rozsival.

They just signed Finnish goalie Antti Raanta to a contract that will count against the cap even if he's playing in AHL.

Not sure they will re-sign Emery at all.

- Jsaquella

emory went on a desultory raanta when he heard about that signing

Actually Raanta is why I think they won't keep Emery.
- Jsaquella

It makes sense salary wise, although I've never seen raanta play. I have no doubts that the hawks scouts know what they're doing.

And I threw this idea out a couple days ago and nobody responded... But the Bruins only have 5.8 million in cap space. What if the flyers sent an offer sheet to Rask for 4.5-5 million... Yeah they'll lose a 1st 2nd and 3rd, would it be worth it? Idk just spitballing

I'm thinking that 4.5 per is possible for him considering he is still getting his 5.25 per and he is 34. However I think he will want 5 years

I wouldn't go more than three years.

I think a lot of teams will be in on Hossa if he becomes available which is why I think three years at 4.5M wont be there.

damn right it is. that would be a great buy for anyone, especially considering the short term. the guy still has it offensively, and still brings it enough defensively to be entrusted on the penalty kill in the SCF. hate that it didnt work out with him and the pens, but hes a hell of a player and one of the better ones of his generation

I can't imagine he wouldn't get bigger money than that from someone. Hosea could care less what he's getting via his buyout... It'd still take big money to sign him if avaliable

For another 8 years... Realistically I don't see how the hawks don't buy him out. I'd give him 4 years. If he wants 5 he'd have to sacrifice some money. Jmo

bolland and probably hammer will be dealt. Stalberg, Mayers, Zus are all gone. I doubt they resign bickell - he was a slug all season. Kruger and Leddy are the two RFAs they will resign. And I have no idea what Leddy has done to get so little ice time lately. They like emery tremendously and he will get PT with Craw in net.

What are you guys thinking? 4 years/22mil? I'd still do that. Hossa would get a slight raise and he would be 39 when his deal ends, just in time to retire.

Hossa would get paid on the UFA market no doubt about it.

Teams would be bidding for his services which makes me believe he will still get a very good deal.

Possible they look at Brad Richards as well. These "buyouts" could make UFA worth watching.
