hell yeah. theres no right or wrong. its not like there are stats to fall back upon. its just damn good conversation. i appreciate being a part of it
- stayinthefnnet

Definitely. Of course, out of the context of a handful of Dad Rock fans and metal heads, I come across as a crabby old man who's afraid of change. So it's a nice change of pace

A fair point, a lot of what goes into it is opinion, of course. Hell a few years back, Rolling stone did a list of the best guitarists in rock and names like Eddie Van Halen and Alvin Lee finished well behind guys like George Harrison.

I also have to admit that, besides Oasis, I have multiple songs by every band mention in this thread on my iPod.

definitely. its all opinion driven. like i said, my musical range is wide, and i have no real reason sometimes for certain things i like or dont like. sometimes, it would seem to have all of the attributes i love, and it just doesnt do it for me, and the inverse is often even more likely to happen.

I wonder if there is a chance Monahan goes in the top 4 with that kind of acclaim?
- ravishingone

It could be possible, it's also possible he slips to say Buffalo at #8

Absolutely. Hell, for me, I can pop on classic Van Halen and happily while away the evening.

But I like the Stones, Beatles, Who, Metallica, Megadeth, Cream, Floyd...it's all got it's good and bad.

- Jsaquella

I have listened to Rust In Peace a shameful number of times in the past four days. I get stuck on one song or album a lot of times.

Before that, I think it was the Lido Shuffle.

Personally, I'd throw Mumford & Sons in that category. I know not all would agree.

Absolutely.

The only problem is, they did a Remaster of it in 2004, but had to rerecord some vocals, as they lost the master tracks. It almost ruins Five Magics for me.

I drive a lot at work and I usually have my iPod on shuffle or listen to XM's Old Time Radio channel or NHL Home Ice.

When I shuffle my "Rock" playlist, it'll jump from Gordon Lightfoot to Slayer to James Taylor to Van Hagar to the Stones to The Reverend Horton Heat to Rush to Budgie.

haha yeah. over time, ive developed tastes for so many different artists that typically i have at least one or two that someone can roll their eyes at, so i do my best to not be too harsh on other peoples interests.

however, this onslaught of either extreme ganster rap or disney pop crap is enough for me to lose my cool haha

That's an excellent lineup. I usually use my phone, I'm trying out the Google music subscription service (it's like spotify, I think?), but my phone is currently caput. So I have a cassette deck, and no Creedence.

not to sound all trendyish and in the know or anything, but they are becoming a sore subject for me. they are extremely talented, but i cant stand the fact that now every 17 year old girl all of a sudden believes that they are a free spirit/singer songwriter addict because they heard them on q102

From Rust In Peace? Literally every song is great, imo. Otherwise, I'm somewhat familiar with their older catalog, and picky about new stuff.

OHL’s best: Nurse, Zadorov, and Monahan lead impressive group

North American Central Scouting chief scout Mark Seidel considers Monahan a more advanced version of Philadelphia Flyers centre Sean Couturier at the same age. Seidel added that in at least three previous recent drafts, Monahan would have been picked first overall.

I could see the Flyers getting Monahan with that kind of praise

Word on the street is Matt Carle plays tambourine in a garage band. A new power trio. The underwear model Sean Avery uses Carle's head as a bass drum.

They are a very good, very tight band. But the whole, "look how free spirited/salt of the earth/hipster/outside the mainstream looking we are" just rubs me the wrong way because it is so obviously manufactured.
