I thought he was pretty pathetic before. Now it's even worse then I thought.

For the Fun of it. I'm creating an all-star band:

Lead Guitar-Jimmy Page
Rythem Guitar- James Hetfield
Base- Geezer Butler
Drums- Keith Moon
Vocals- Freddie Mercury

Song Writer: Pete Townsend

The 70s wants their musicians back...

Anything a bit more current to work with?

Basically, I think when Hetfield's not playing "metal" he-and his band-are pedestrian.

To me, a rhythm guitarist is like a stay at home defenseman-you don't notice him unless he makes a mistake. I've seen Pearl Jam, 20+ times, and Gossard goes out and just sounds great every night.

- Jsaquella

i like pearl jam as well. ive only seen them a couple of times, and have never been disappointed. i guess if i am going based purely on the definition you are using, then hetfield is more than just a basic rhythm guitarist, because you sure as hell notice his contribution. it typically is the meat of the song

Still not as bad as it could be:

Dany Heatley and Martin Havlat have been ruled ineligible for Compliance buyouts due to injury status...Here's hoping BRyzgalov's Flyers career ends 48 hours and 30 seconds after Bettman hands the Stanley Cup to Chara or Toews.

Seriously? Metallica is the most influential band of the past 30 years?
- MJL

No way. Perhaps one of the most influential main stream bands, but that's about it.

Strap that (frank)er down to a stretcher in a padded room and wrap him with bubble wrap.

The rhythm is definitely one of the strong suits of Metallica.

He is, I guess it's more that when Metallica does softer, slower music, I'm changing thee station or hitting the shuffle button.

Unforgiven? I'm giving it the "un-listen".

Yup. This is a very simple risk/reward scenario. There's only one side to be on.

Could be, especially if you're looking for it on the radio. But with the whole interwebs thingie that Al Gore invented in his spare time, it's pretty easy to find boatloads of good music.

In the narrow genre of thrash metal maybe. But in classic Rock, not even on the radar.

The Most over rated band of all time is The Rolling Stones. Just thought I would educate as a public service.

I'm pretty sure a band isn't good when their drummer is pretending to kill his drumset every song.

Lars Ulrich is definitely not a top tier drummer. Not even close.
