Guys like Kaberle and Komisarek I'd invite to camp on a tryout, if they prove they still have it then maybe I sign them. - Lahey

I doubt it, but her looks will make her stick work appear better. - Lahey
This... however I will note that she does not need great hands - she just needs decent oral skillz |

This makes no sense. Schultz wanted a team that would give him top 4 minutes. Absolutely. However he has two close friends other than Gardiner in TO. One plays for the Rangers. The other in Edmonton. He could have played with Anahiem and had top 4 minutes on a team that has good talent. He could have played top 4 minutes for the rangers. In fact there are numerous teams he could have played top 4 minutes for. He chose Edmonton because of the young talent they have.
No Dman goes out and picks the weakest defense as their choice. It would kill their career. One guy is not going to save an entire team on the blue line. You go where you have a future and where you can play with people that are going to win. UFA's will sign for the same reason.
In the end our first line and schultz will be invited to try out for Canada's Olympic team. Yak will play for Russia. Who does TOR have of that caliber? Do you think Kessel will be at the olympics? - Hall Fan
Kessel is a lock for team USA
Grabo is on Belarus
Dion will get Canada invite
I can see eberle hall at camp
RNH no

Too much for Florida to give up to acquire Gagner. The value difference between Jones and Nurse (or if you prefer MacKinnon and Lindholm) is too far apart for a swap of Gagner and Bjudstad.
If you want the 2nd overall pick the deal would have to be something like:
Gagner, 7th pick
for:
2nd pick, rights to Weiss, conditional 2014 3rd.
Conditional that they sign Weiss.
It is a huge price for Edmonton to pay but to get another Franchise player to add to Hall - Nuge - Yakupov, you have to pay. Besides, Weiss is a great replacement for Gagner especially if it gets you Jones. - Steven_Dean
None of the trades to Florida are near enough
Would the oilers traded any of their firsts over the years for a 2C and a 7th ? No not a chance |

I agree with almost all of this except the last paragraph. The only guy with any shot at the Canadian Olympic team is Hall. Schultz will not be invited, nor will Eberle or RNH. They'd have zero chance. Yak may be, but the Russians are stacked so it's 50/50 that he makes it, IMO.
The Leafs have a few as well. Kessel, OF COURSE, will be on the US Olympic team...he's a top 10 player in the league. JVR stands a decent chance, as does Kulemin for the Russians. Gunnar also has a good chance of suiting up for the Swedes.
The Olympics are not about potential (which the Oilers have in spades), it's a very short tournament where you ice you best players...right now. |

This is why I hate you. It was less than 24 hours ago that you proposed a stupid deal for Zibanejad while the rest of us were talking about Zach Smith. Now this morning you write this !! How the hell did you manage to convince some backwater newspaper to hire you ? - Reveen

Yes...but I can't read my writing. Imagine my frustration.

RNH has a way better chance than Schultz. Neither has a good chance.
Smid will be on Czech.
Depending on fit Petry might get a USA invite.
Who knows? Yaks and Hemmer could even get Russian and Czech invites respectively.

No I'm just that (frank)ed up. Why would I want attention from people on hockeybuzz? I make fun of people who say they come on here in real life. |

2011-12 ~ Hall is OK, but Eberle is awesome! Eberle will be on the Olympic team, but Hall doesn't have a chance!

Hall for sure should get invite, not completely convinced in Eberle but maybe. I agree no RNH and am skeptical of J. Schultz. I think Dubnyk will get invite for team Canada mostly cause we have not really had a real international goalie since Brodeur's decline. Smid should be a lock for Czech as should Hemsky(although likely not an Oiler by this time). Petry should at least get invited to USA camp and Yakupov is maybe borderline invite if he starts of season really well. Although it might still be too soon for him. |

Oilersnation just posted a great interview with Lazar. With the combo of his stats, work ethic, and comparables (Dustin Brown, Mike Richards) I would love he chance to trade down and take him |

I like both players a lot...A LOT. I just think Hall's game has taken that jump, and he's ready to play on the big stage with the big boys. This is so much bigger than the World Championships, IMO.
Eberle is very good, but I'm not convinced he's at that level. |

Yes, our boys playing with injuries is certainly holding them back. For Sochi, as a result of slowed progress from playing with injuries, I would agree that Hall is only one of Hall, Eberle, RNH, Schultz that has a real chance. 2018 will have at least 4 Oilers representing team Canada(barring crazy trades/injuries) |

How does one trade down and guarantee we still get Lazar? |
