If Mact wouldn't give up Hemmer for Zack Smith, he won't give up Paajarvi.

There is not team in the world with seven untouchables. Not even teams that just won a championship. Ever. Anyone on the Oilers could be traded , no, make that some of the "untouchables" will have to be traded because its impossible to build a team entirely through the draft.

THe idea that you would be unhappy with a phaneuf for gagner trade is ridiculous. The Leafs would never do that, but the Oilers definatley would. They won't trade Phanuef anyways.

- Jimmy_Tea

Wow...rose coloured glasses on or what? Nobody would trade Gagner for Phaneuf because they would be getting ripped off HUGE...Gagner is worth TWO Phaneufs...Nonis would JUMP on that deal...

Not sure if this has been discussed, but:

To Nashville:
Ales Hemsky
7th Overall Pick
37th Overall Pick

To Edmonton:
4th Overall Pick

Is that enough for Nashville? Too much? Worth it for the Oilers?
Are the Oilers better off keeping the picks, and drafting say Monahan? Nurse?

Would the Oilers target Barkov? Nichushkin?

Thoughts?

No way I do that. Even throwing in Hemsky.

Essentially you are trading Barkov for Hemsky, Monahan and Lazar.

I do not think Lazar makes it to the second round...

I agree, Monahan and Hemsky say for Barkov would cause a lot of debate on both sides.

I have heard the Oilers are targeting G - Eric Comrie with that second round pick.

Thanks for your feedback

Lazar is a fringe first rounder but there will still be a lot of great players available at 37. I'd take William Carrier, Jacob de la Rose, many others of Lazar is gone. There will still be lots of goalies at our 50th pick (although I want to take Yakimov there just for poops and giggles).

You make some great points, but I have a feeling Lazar goes 15-20.

Gagner deal rumored to be 18M/4 years. Thoughts?

I like it... Not sure, Nashville would do it, but it's a decent offer IMO. I'd definitely target Barkov with the 4th.

Hemsky needs to go anyway, and I don't think Lazar will be around that late.

Do you guys see a future for say Rajala/Arcobello?

Solid AHL seasons, however, do you see either with the ability to play in the bottom 6? Much has been talked about as smaller, skilled guys, that would not fit into these roles.

I honestly do not know much about either.

Both small RWers (5 9, 5 10). Rajala may have a chance. I don't think Arco will ever be a regular in the NHL.

Watching this piece on TSN right now on Darnell Nurse. I think he should be our guy at 7.

I wouldn't trade Gagner, he played great with Hall and Yak. Then sign someone like Clowe/Bickel..... to play with nuge and Ebs.

Then I would pounder trading the pick for a power forward or younger dman..

Wonder if what combo it would take to get Alzner?

I think would be Zack Smith + for hemmer

Just remember word around the league is Hemmer is a Band-Aid... A risk for at least on year.

IMO I would love to see Smith on the 3rd line in Etown

I like the deal but as others have said, Nashville likely doesn't do it because of the top heaviness in the draft. I think it's a fair deal in other drafts (maybe an overpayment because of Hemsky). I would try this:

To NSH: 7th, Ducks 2nd, Rajala, Hemsky
To EDM: 4th overall and we take Barkov unless Jones slides, however slim of a chance that is

My overall wish list for the 7th overall is:
Monahan
Nurse
Ristolainen

Very fair point, thanks for the response.
Wish list looks good.

Thoughts on the Minnesota Wild possibly buying out Tom Gilbert? Would he come back here? In what role? Would we want him back?

My wish list for this years draft is McKinnon, Jones, Barkov, Nich, Monahan, Nurse, Ristolainen. Yes, I want all of them, I am sure Linus Omark is good for Calgary's pick yes? Other random crap can be packaged together for the rest of them.

Oh the irony of a Gilbert/N.Schultz line.
