sabre team won the presidents trophy where the kings team clinched a playoff spot the last week of the season

the kings team peaked at the right time, the sabres team peaked too early

and that kings team got elite goaltending

The only Sabres player I take is Vanek
And the rest of the two teams are pretty similar in talent, but LA had tougher guys and better team defense, and we had softer "skill" guys

IMO, the Islanders are a serious up-and-comer. With Tavares playing his best, and guys like Grabner and Moulson playing a more gritty game in order to win, they are going to be a contending team for a while. The only thing that team needs is a goaltender IMO.

We got rid of the grit (Mckee, Dumont, Grier) we needed to be a successful playoff team & got beat up by Ottawa...
We were lucky to get by the rangers

he is a big boy, the question was does he think Miller was as good as Hasek

Miller stole the team 2 series wins, the sens the year before and that ranger series

those two series put him on the map, not the regular season numbers

the olympics put him on a platform

if he was a consistent goalie, I would be as big a fan of him as anyone
instead he gets shoved down my throat for 6 years as the next hasek

reality is he has not won poop since the ranger series, nor has this team

that is where my frustration lies

take pommer, he wasn't the problem on this team
he had a C on his jersey and got shipped out of town because of that sole reason. He is the best player of the 3 to keep moving forward as he is a great all around player. Instead he was the scape goat of the month. Now he is gone and it has shifted to vanek and miller. When they are gone, it will move on to the next, probably myers or staff.

and to the other comment about the sabres teams, I doubt we ever had a team ready to compete for a cup since bowman was our coach in the early 80's

flashes here and there, but never had a d group or consistent line chemistry to get it done

That's just flat out wrong
Hasek might have individually done more for those Sabres team than any other hockey player I've ever watched

But that doesn't mean Miller isn't very good
Miller will go to a better team and prob win a cup...
