Kessel is a 50 goal scorer
- SameOld

No one is saying "Kessel is at best a 40 goal scorer".

my idea draft scenario if edm doesnt move for immediate help;

col-jones
fla-mackinnon
tbay-drouin
Nash-barkov
car-nurse
cal-monahan
edm-nichushkin

mackinnon goes to the eastern conference. Carolina goes with a defender. calgary takes the centermen they've been looking for ten years.
we end up with the powerforward on the left side.

longshot im sure

Colorado already said they are not taking Jones.

Ahahahaha wait let me get this straight. Clouts, you think the Leafs are not going to sign Bozak and then trade Gardiner of all people for a marginally better version of Bozak?? Haha

It's no surprise why you're such a (frank)ing joke. You literally have nothing going for you.

- SameOld

Let me get this straight...you just wrote a post addressing the blogger on page 14? He stops after page 1.

I think Colorado could trade down to 3rd and still get Jones which would be a slam dunk for them.
- Morris

I agree.

Once again Clouts, Gardiner is not going anywhere...Unless you send back RNH which is impossible.

Everyone knows Gardiner's upside, and he went only be dealt for an actual #1 center by Toronto. He can change a game...You don't trade those away. Especially for a overrated Gagner or broken glass Hemsky.

Toronto is starting a good core around the same age...Kadri, Gardiner, and Bernier. And they have some great role talent and fill in talent. The only thing they are missing is a Selke like center in the top-six.

he's still only 23.
and if you get to use his 'record' as evidence while he was clearly still developing, then I don't think it's unfair to say he was well on pace to the numbers you say you wont accept.

- hugefemale dog77

He may be 23 but he's played 6 seasons at a 2nd line level. Maybe he will be 70 point, number one center someday, but I wouldn't give away too much betting on that.

As for "on pace" and "potential", it doesn't mean much. If I said Kessel is a potential 50 goal player I'd get laughed out of here.

You'll be confident with Colborne who has yet to even establish himself as an NHL player since 2008 but don't want Bjgustad, who somehow won't become a top six center after just a cup of coffee in the NHL?

Sorry bud, Bgjustad has a lot of GMs drooling with how he's developed. I'm not saying he's worth an arm and a leg, but him for Gardiner is a completely fair deal

- mochoson

Lol you misinterpreted me. Obviously i would take bjugstad over colbourne in a heartbeat. (though colbourne showed some promise in the latter half of the year when he recovered from a nagging wrist injury)
I also disagree with gms drooling. From what i hear he hasnt dominated college offensively like many thought he would. Still a great prospect but not worth gardiner in my opinion. Wouldnt make sense for us even if he were, were trying to make the playoffs more than once a decade now, losing gardiner doesnt help.

And dont buddy me,.... buddy

was he on pace for 50?

if so, you're entitled to say he was on pace for 50. what's so crazy about this?
of course he may not have gotten there, lots could've happened etc etc.

but I certainly couldn't say, "no way kessel could ever score 50", now could I?

I don't think that's true. I think if you said Kessel is a 50 goal player, like those who have, you'd get laughed at.

In fact, I'll say it, because I think it's true: Kessel is a potential 50 goal scorer, and really only among about 10 players in the NHL that I'd consider to have that kind of potential.

No you wouldn't. Kessel is a top NHL sniper for sure.A few things have to come into play for that to happen though.Chemistry with line mates, health of both he and said line mates, lots of power play opps...but yeah, I would say he has a couple 50 goal seasons in him.

Now, I would laugh you the (frank) out of here if you said "Kessel if a very well spoken, articulate young man. He gives off such a strong aura of intellegence in his interviews, I mean just look at how well groomed and sharp his appearance is..." or something like that.

Periods to separate the simple sentences, and a comma in the compound-complex sentence. Did you prefer me to make the entire thing a run-on sentence for you?

Ya that jake24242 douche Leaf fan is stalking me now cuz I stomped on his Phanuef for Gagner and the 7th overall proposal.

(frank) me....

- Iggysbff

Why does he want phanuef gone anyhow. He does so much for our team. They see him do something stupid once or twice a game and assume hes garbage. They seem to forget the other 24 minutes of shutting down the other teams top lines while contributing offensively.

Team sucks. We have maybe 12 NHL players on our roster. Most of them have less than 3 full years of experience. That about sums it up.

Saying "on pace for 50" is one thing but if you trade for a guy who's "on pace for 50" and assume that equates to getting a 50 goal scorer you're nuts. Kadri was on pace for 30 goals and 75 points but you'd have a hard time finding a lot of people who believe he'd actually achieve that in 82 games.
