Frattin is not the best player in this deal, lol...Bernier is by a landslide...
Frattin scored 7goals in 10 games to start the year, and didn't score after that...o in 22games. - BoBBeR56
Frattin wills core 20+ next year for the Kings.
Bernier is not a proven NHL starter. He's played a total of 62 games in the NHL since being drafted 6 years ago, and has never played ore than 25 in a season.
He is NOT Jonathon Quick. |

Some Leafs fans are really dumb. Even when you steal a trade, they somehow are worried about what they gave up. Frattin did nothing in the playoffs and didn't score a goal for 22 games straight. And we gave our backup. Rumor was Kings wanted couterier for Bernier. Or even Read. How is frattin even close to as good as those 2 players? Idiots. |

I can't believe we gave away a Joey Crabb type player for a potential franchise goaltender |

I am sure Bernier is thrilled (insert sarcasm) to be going into another situation where he can play a back-up role/or not be the clear #1... |

Dont see Read as being in the interest og Lombardi. He is one year rental and Lombardi doesnt do that. Therefore dont think the Flyers were really ever in it without giving up their first rounder. |

They could have gotten them, the problem is they also wanted a premium pick so they could replace Bernier with a quality backup, and the Flyers didn't want to part with the 11th overall for obvious reasons. They got their backup in Scrivens, a 2nd rounder, and a guy to replace Penner on the 2nd line.
It's an even trade. |

Toronto definitely got the better end of the deal, but I like the day based on the fact we were going to lose Bernier at some point anyway. |

The Leafs won this trade, hands down. Scrivens is a horrible goaltender, your stress levels are going to be through the roof if or when he gets a chance to play. As for Frattin, he is not a 2nd liner, a 3rd/4th line plug who will struggle to stay in the lineup. Never the less, both players will both be out of the league within the next couple of years, Bernier just set the Leafs up in net for years to come. A clear win for the Leafs.
A potential franchise goaltender for a couple of fringe players. |

Riemer nets a top 20 pick, backup goalie and roster player? Are you high? You sound like Cloutier gauging the price on Ales Hemsky now. - hiway39

Okay buddy, whatever you say. Scrivens doesn't need to play very much anyway, and LA actually has a defense. Frattin will do well either playing on the 3rd line or on the Richards and Carter line.
Oh wait, but Bernier is going to never make a save in Toronto and refuse to sign a contract extension with them because I can't handle possibly losing a skilled player. |

And you're acting like the leafs got Quick back in return, IDIOT!
We aren't talking about a goaltender who was even close to beating out Quick.
We aren't talking about Cory Schneider here (Luongo). This is Jonathon Bernier. He couldn't touch Quick and now he;s dealt so he can get a shot. He's unproven at best.
Reimer is still the leafs best goalie.
Berneir was worth Frattin.
Bernier was worth a 2nd rnd pick.
Bernier was not worth Frattin, Scrivens, 500 k in cap, and a 2nd round pick. Ludicrous trade. |

The cool part of the trade is that each guy (reims and Berns) know full well they have beat out the other, meaning both should be gangbusters come october. |

I actually agree, one of either Scrivs or Fratts simply because he is still unproven. Scrivs could end up just as good in a few years for all we know.

It is a steep price. The end result should be interesting for both teams though.
Will not really know how well this trade works out for a couple years I'd think: Frattin gets regular ice time on a good team, could be Stalberg 2.0. Reimer and Bernier prove to be #1 starters, we trade from a position of strength, and maybe get something juicy for either goaltender down the road. |

These boards are ridiculous. Now these guys don't play for the Leafs so they're worthless and Bernier is the next Marty Brodeur.
In reality Kings fans. Scrivens is a serviceable backup which is what you needed. You don't need a possible starter, Quick is your guy and all but two or three teams would be ecstatic to have him.
Frattin has potential but had a really rough time after his injury. He seemed to only have chemistry with Kadri and they didn't line up together after Frattin returned and he was invisible most nights. He led the NCAA in goal scoring a couple years ago, he's a really solid, strong on his skates player with some speed and a good release. He'll hit and he does have potential with the right linemates to hit 25 goals in a full season.
I don't feel strongly about the deal either way which normally means it's a fair deal. I like the Leafs having a goalie with some pedigree and I'll miss the 2nd round pick most in the deal unless Frattin really comes together.
I'm not going to pretend I know what the Leafs are doing (Reimer staying the starter, Bernier being the starter, one goalie being moved in a bigger deal etc.). I'll just watch and see what happens and not yell at people and call people stupid because I pretend to know what Nonis has in mind and also how these player's careers will turn out.
Am I excited to have Bernier in the fold? Yes. He wouldn't be the first French Canadian goalie the Leafs had that didn't turn out (Eric Fichaud) and the Kings have drafted "can't miss" goalies in the first round before that have bombed (Jamie Storr). |

Hate this deal, that the leafs also kept 500k in cap makes it that much worse.
You always say the team that gets the best player wins the deal.

It's a win win trade and a steal compared to what Philly would have had to give the Kings. |
