now as a Canuck fan, you must really respect the Wings goaltending....

here's a hint, check out Jimmy Howard's height.

- BorjeFan4Ever

Howard isn't top 10 in the league, likely not 15.

What is Phaneufs value to other teams?
Yeah he hiccups more often then not and saying he's a #1 defenseman is sometimes hard to swallow. But he's put up some good numbers for a defenseman and when not overworked he plays high quality hockey - hits, shoots, head up, responsible etc, so maybe he's not a #1 but first pairing.

To Toronto
Clutterbuck
Gilbert
Coyle
Heatley

To Minny
Phaneuf
Colborne
Rights to MacA
2013 2nd

Fair?
Phaneuf/Suter as a top pairing could be special. We take Heatleys 15M and eat it, and with that we get Coyle at a lower price - Phaneuf going the other way isn't that bad either. I'm pretty sure Minny didn't even have Coyle playing center this year too, don't quote me though. They receive Colborne so their depth at center doesn't take as big of a toll, not to mention he's ready for a shot in the NHL. They can sign MacA to an extension and replace Heatley at a much more reasonable cap hit, and honestly the quality of play would probably be the same - 5 years ago I'd never dare say such words, as Heatley ages.
With Coyle we could have a #1C but I see him more as a two-way 2A center. Coyle and Kadri for the next 15 years? Done.
Toronto also brings back a top pairing stay-at-home defenseman in Gilbert to replace Phaneuf, while also bolstering its top nine with big hitter Clutterbuck.
Yes, I can see Gardiner and Gilbert being our top pairing next year, but there's a reason I'm not a GM, yet.

I mean, I watch A LOT of hockey

not trying to poop on your parade... but there's a chance the Wild will be buying Gilbert out.

So you must be over 6'2"to be top 10 in the league in tending.

What is the excuse that the Nucks tenders are using. They are not in the top 10..

Moving on from the topic of that midget Bernier, I wonder what else Nonis has lined up for before July 5th?

Sounds like they have a plan and are starting to execute.

wouldn't be surprised to see a big centre come our way, and it's going to cost a lot and the price we have to pay will make the Bernier angst seem like nothing

- Rang

Poulin was on the radio this morning and it sounded like they are preparing to make some moves.

He said the buyout window is a 48 hour period that begins as soon as the Cup is handed out. Thursday - Sunday's draft are going to be busy around the league.

It does seem that Nonis is intent on making some fairly aggressive moves this summer. Should be interesting.

It's cool man, I'm just bored at work and trying to figure out Phaneufs value...which is really difficult.
Where have you heard this? Does he have a bad contract?

Yeah, I found it interesting that Dreger tweeted specifically about Dion possibly being in play. Remember what Carlyle said after game 7 in Boston: "Some players showed us they were who we thought they were". Boom, in comes Bernier. Is Phaneuf next?
