On Bernier...

The Wild are involved, but only as a backup plan if Backstrom can't get done...The Flyers are only mildly involved...more just being kept in the loop. The Devils see him as a possible heir to the throne...The Islanders want him perhaps the most but Niederreiter doesn't appear to be the right fit...at this point. That could of course change...

Hmmm.....

Poor Reimer. He can't be happy about being a backup next season.
- Cheeseballin

The guy is happy as a clam after a devastating loss. I'm sure this won't alter his mood.

So glad we acquired him for what we gave up!!! We're going to be set in net for years to come between Reimer and Bernier. Awesome move.

Bernier isn't very good though. Remier is better.

Not sure why people think this is an overpayment. Looks good to me.

Scrivens? Career backup.
2nd Rd in 2014 or 2015? Who cares? The draft is deep in 2013.
Frattin? His 10 pts in 10 games was a product of being an AHLer with game legs when the season started. His last 15 games? 0 goals and 3 assists. Pure gem.

Bernier has the potential to be a superstar #1, something the Leafs have been drooling at for years.

- PuckingOpinion

Pretty well only trolls of other teams are calling it an overpayment.

We did that by drafting Jacob Markstrom a few years ago..

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I would have been comfortable going into next season with Reimer as the clear number one. It would have made a lot more sense to just get a veteran backup for cheap. At least it didn't cost a first.

Wait, the Leafs drafted Markstrom too?!?!?

I kid. Good for the Leafs, this will become a fun divisional rivalry.

Not a terrible overpayment, but still, WTF does Reimer need to do to get the no. 1 job?

Also, sad to see Frattin go, thought he had a lot to offer going forward``

So you just traded all that for a backup in bernier? I don't think so. Bernier will start the season.

Don't care. Luongo to the leafs is officially dead.

Scratch the leafs as a potential trading partner off your list

Reimer is a great 40 game a season goaltender, he's not cut out to play a whole season, endurance wise, which limits his ability to become a surefire #1 goaltender in the NHL. Once he plays more games than he physically or mentally can, his stats suffer, and so does his play. So pumped for this trade, if both of these young goaltenders can keep up their level of play, we will arguably have the best goaltending tandem in the league for years to come. Couldn't think of a better place for Bernier to come, split the season down the middle with Reimer, and ease into his workload, 41 games each. This trade will benefit both of our now goaltenders. So glad we got rid of Scrivens, will probably be out of the league within the next 2-3 years, same goes for Frattin, hardworker, but more of a plug type player if you ask me. Awesome trade, one of the best I've seen the Leafs make in a while, a bright future ahead.

Soooo Reimer takes you to the playoffs and he is rewarded with being a backup. Typical retarded Leafs GM. Feel bad for the fans up in Toronto.. this was WAY too steep a price. At least Reimer has proven he can win.. Bernier has been a back up until this point.

You can be sure Mike Gillis is thankful to Nonis for setting the market for goaltenders going into the draft. If an unproven, unsigned goaltender is worth what the leafs paid, you can imagine what Gillis now thinks he should get for Luongo.
