I'd say Bernier has more potential... no doubt.

It's the liklihood of reaching said potential that concerns me... and goalies are notoriously unpredictable.

Getting injured knocked him off track this season, but before that he was stellar.

6'2-6'5 is the right height for today's goalies. Especially with goalie equipment about to get smaller... Bernier is going to be in big (pardon the pun) trouble.

exactly...Frattin is 10x MacArthur - too bad he wasn't traded with Scrivens...I think Frattin with some more ice and some decent line mates could be a very good player. Good trade both ways...if Bernier works out

We don't need Scrivens to be more than a backup, I'm not sure why Leaf fans are talking about him not being able to be a starter.... That's not his job, his job is to backup Quick.... Frattin doesn't need to be a big time goal scorer either, he needs to be someone who can create space, LA has plenty of goal scorers.. He plays and he's built a lot like Dustin Brown, Lombardi is probably going to try to turn him into Brown2.0.... We have a first line, so 2nd or 3rd line is just fine.

After thinking about this deal, though I don't like the whole 'goaltending controversy' that will come with each start next season, I agree with Dozzer. You have to make Bernier earn the job. You cannot annoint a goalie #1 status, and to trade Reimer and bring in a veteran #2, you're doing just that.
