I think Toronto wins the deal by alot. Frattin is no more than a 3rd or 4th line player. Players who dont score a goal in 25 games are easliy to acquire. Goalies with the pedigree of a Bernier are not. Scrivens will be a career back up and who knows what the 2nd round pick will turn into. I think Toronto did very well in this deal and it's very hard for me to admit that. |

Sounds like he's sad.
- robin_steele264
I'm a bit surprised by his reaction. He's always so upbeat and positive. Maybe he's read too much in the media about how this trade would affect him (i.e.: doubt himself or feel doubted by the organization) that he now thinks he should feel this way. If he thinks of the team first (which he usually seems to do) he would see that the team should be better now. Even though the situation for goalies is different than for forwards or defense, goalies still have to remember it's a team game and Reimer is still part of the team while Scrivens is not. I'd say the move shows more of a lack of faith in Scrivens who likely would never seriously challenge for the #1 spot. If the Leafs had no faith in Reimer they probably would have traded him for Bernier if they felt Bernier was clearly an upgrade at #1. |

I think it was a low risk deal. Sounds more like Nonis... Burke on the other hand he was a gunslinger |

he finished his season by seriously poopting the bed in the playoffs
then the first big move made in the offseason is to bring in a new young goalie.

I think you should sell Reimer high while the getting is good...Lots of teams will want him and packaged with other parts could bring a nice upgrade to the defense or center position...I'm sure Nonis is exploring all possibilities... - Flyfreaky
Trade will hopefully be announced minutes after JB contract is signed.
If JB can catch a puck, control rebounds, and not make it an adventure
everytime he leaves the net to play the puck.....shots against should
be drastically reduced, improving overall team D.

There are a lot of moving parts in this deal. I think Frattin and Scrivens both have a lot of potential, and I don;t like seeing them go so early on.
At the same time, Bernier is far from proven... he hasn't had a big workload yet, and prior to this season, he hasn't put up very good numbers either. |

I'm not sure that anyone should be looking to the Canucks or the Flyers for advice on handling goaltenders. |

Luongo would definitely fit into some team's top-10 goalies.
If any team had that many. |

oyh hell.. if GMS operated like the "not the right time" folks wanted them to nothing would ever happen.
a GM needs to have some balls.. make moves that dont have a guarantee.. not gonna get very far if the GM just sits around with his thumbs jammed up his arse - Dozzer
Exactly. If you're not moving ahead you're falling behind because every other team is trying to find ways to get better. I think this off season is going to be full of moves, unlike last year when everyone knew the lockout was coming. |
