Exactly my thought. I have a feeling, well more hope than feeling that Bernier will pay off and become the #1 every one thinks he can.

I think you should sell Reimer high while the getting is good...Lots of teams will want him and packaged with other parts could bring a nice upgrade to the defense or center position...I'm sure Nonis is exploring all possibilities...

Dave Poulin had an interesting point. He said you can't dictate when players become available, and you have to pounce when they do. So if you need a centre, defenseman, and a goalie in that order it doesn't mean you don't trade for the goalie because it's not the first thing on your wishlist. Makes sense, and a lot of people have been saying that this move wasn't necessary.

This is exactly it. People said that about the Kessel deal too. It wasn't the right time!!!!! People said they weren't one piece away from contending so they shouldn't have got him. Some people still say that the Leafs aren't close enough to contending to bring in a high priced UFA. But you have to try to improve your team and you do that by getting the best players you can when you can.

a GM needs to have some balls.. make moves that dont have a guarantee.. not gonna get very far if the GM just sits around with his thumbs jammed up his arse
