I was nice when I was in there just because I like the oilers but I left quickly

Good boy. Not all of them are like that anyways. I dont even think many of them like that guy.
Its understandable, really. Most fans over evaluate their team.
Its a fine line between over evaluation and delusion though.

Mike: Now that Bernier is a Maple Leaf; he is still RFA. Does that mean that the Islanders or another team could offer sheet him and potentially screw Toronto over?

There also saying for pnuff straight up

I know people hate p9 but come on that's a trade rape

- The_Vark

I know lots of people hate Phaneuf but he is worth a lot in a trade. There just isn't many players like him that can hit and log a lot of minutes vs the top line AND produce offensively. He is under appreciated in TO. I was mad at him for game 4 vs Boston much like everyone else. But one game doesn't define you as a player. If we do trade Phaneuf, it will be for someone better than Gagner for sure.

Given nyi's consistant inconsistency I would think Bernier is quite happy to be going to T.O

I really don't think we can tamper with our prospects on D. Everyone knows Rielly is the centrepiece, but Finn and Percy are going to turn some heads soon enough.
- BetterCallSaul

Agreed. I think getting Finn in round 2 last year was a steal. We are pretty strong in terms of D prospects. But Gardiner really has a lot of potential. He will be given a legit shot next year in a top 4 role, and I say he is gonna excel. He is just great at skating and controlling the flow of the game.

True. But we could also maybe trade him for a top 4 D and a 1st maybe? I don't know. Dreger said Phaneuf might be in play. So if we do trade him, we better receive a lot. Lupul for Captain right??

I wish the Leafs can find a way to draft Max Domi. I know they play nothing alike, but it would be pretty special to watch Max in TO. He plays like Kadri.

I agree about Gardiner, but I also think he is an asset we can turn into something we need. Let's just say I won't be unhappy keeping Gardiner and I know Nonis will get excellent value on him if he is dealt.

personally not sure of this, CHFM of St. John's is claiming to know two credible sources speaking about two trades set to go down in Leaf Land.

first involves Jake Gardiner being reunited with Justin Shultz in Edmonton. Specific details not released. Next...

This trade is based on a rumor and i assume has no legs.

Main reason for my post is because in my wildest dreams i didn't believe Phaneuf was in play, until I saw this blog. So that makes it twice in two days that I heard Phaneuf is on the move. CHFM suggests that:

Dion Phaneuf will be moved to the Tampa Bay Lightning along with the 21st overall for Slater Koekkoek, Nate Thompson and the 3rd overall pick.

Personally I think it's all a farse.... However, these guys have broken the Versteeg deal when traded to Toronto as well as the Cammalleri trade back to Calgary that i know of.

don't shoot the messenger

I don't see us acquiring anything that will help us as much as he does right now unless we're getting a top three pick. We can score that's not a problem keeping it out yes

I can't believe there are Leaf fans that think the team gave up too much in the Bernier deal. Granted, it's for the rights to Bernier, but there's no way the Leafs make that deal if they weren't sure they could sign him. They honestly didn't give up very much. Frattin showed some promise this past year, but he's no better than a 3rd line forward. Scrivens will always be a backup. He's average at best. Heck, Jussi Rynnas has more upside than him. The second round pick is probably the most valuable piece they gave up in this trade. Once they sign Bernier, this will prove to be an absolute steal. They didn't have to give up any of the foundation pieces to acquire a potential franchise goalie. Reimer's a great guy who is capable of some very streaky play, but they'll never win with him as their #1 guy. I thought for sure they'd have to give up a guy like Jake Gardiner to get a goalie of this quality. Kudos to Dave Nonis and his people for making this deal.

I dont understand why so many people think that at this point.
The way he played this year, there is no reason to suggest he can't take us somewhere. And I'm willing to bet next year he's gonna be even better.

i think it is a pretty fair deal. frattin is a 3rd liner who can fill in on the 2nd line if there is an injury. scrivens is a back up, but when he played for us it seemed when he played consecutively, he played better, but when he had days off, he was shaky. not something we need behind reimer, though scrivens is a good guy. this also opens up the possibility even more that we are most likely going to get clarkson.

I believe the Leafs overpaid to get the rights to sign Bernier, so the above deal for Phaneuf would be great for the Leafs. However, I believe that Koekkoek will be a star one day. Thompson is decentand the 3rd overall pick is a tremendous pick. This would be an overpayment by the Lightning.
