It's entertaining to see people try to troll this trade, it's a difficult one to troll
btw way kudos to Burke for acquiring Scrivens via college free agency. Converting that, a 2nd and Frattin into a #11 pick goalie ain't bad. I like Frattin and Scrivens too though, this could indeed be a solid deal for both teams, but the Leafs potentially have the best player. Good work by Burke/Nonis - Zezel
Imagine him and Reimer both play like they're capable of playing. We have the best young goaltending tandem in the league and if they decide to move one of them what's the return for a 25 year old starting goalie?

You still have to sign Bernier and he will want a contract like Rask/Schneider got which is 4M/year. How do you think that will make JR feel who is on a 1.8M deal? - therealagent

Having A goalie contervercy is never good ..., and the toronto media will go crazy - The_Vark
Or to put it another way, the Leafs have 2 good young goalies and everyone already knows the Toronto media is full of wing nuts. It's all about perspective. |

Alas! One of my favourite posters, How goes it tonight Zez? - Tee-Dot
Not bad. I didn't see the need for this move but I feared it would involve the first round pick or Gardiner or something like that. I'm okay with seeing how this goes.
Also I feel like Clarkson is going to sign here, if so that will offset losing the forward depth of Frattin. |

I'd like to think what Leafs fans think of Gardiner. Didn't seem like he was performing too well last year, I know he's young but does anyone think perhaps he a little overrated?
Not trying to start a fight, I saw glimpses of a very solid player but overall more inconsistent than anything. Is he living up to your expectations? |

In essence...
Frattin = 4th round (99th overall)
Scrivens = just money = nothing
2nd in 2014 or 2015
Equates to...
Late 2nd and early 4th for 11th overall.

Yeah if the Leafs get Buff and play him on the wing he can more than fill the hole left by Frattin. |

Season before this, he shocked everyone by making the team out of camp. Like, no one had him on the radar to do that at all and he made it impossible to send him down. He got hurt badly in the AHL while the lockout was on and it set him back in a big way, and he struggled to get back into Carlyle's lineup.
Who knows which way he will go, but he got thrown into the deep end in the playoffs against the Bruins and I thought he looked great. Amazing passing, skating, very high PMD skills. As you might guess, the question is if he can play D. In my opinion he's very promising. |

Ever notice that GM's always say having two good goalies battling it out to push each other is a good thing yet it usually never ends up being that? Instead it ends up being controversy and someone choking. |

he played 12 regular season games, and had 4 assists. he was getting slack here because he wasn't playing like bobby orr. 12 games.
a goal and 4 assits in 6 playoff games, arguably the best defenseman on the ice for the team through the series.
no, not overrated. |

Reimer to Edmonton for Hemsky or to Calgary for Cammy. Good trades for both teams.
Both of those make some logical hockey trade kinda moves. I pull for Calgary out west and would like to see Reimer get a shot there. - 50 Mission Cap
How about Hemsky to Calgary for Cammaleri? |

yes.
He was injured to start the year and then kept in the minors where he belonged, to work on his game at both ends. It was needed.
When he came back for the playoffs he was shaky at first but by the last 2 games of the Boston series he was the Leafs' best Dman.
He is right where I hoped he would be... which is to say, WAAAAAAY more valuable than Gagner, as certain bloggers are suggesting.
