Ya and how dumb are they? Reimer has proven what he had to Bernier hasn't and they take that kind of a risk. - aminnes
One year of this tandem might work, but I think Remier sells high right now and would bring a good haul... |

Nah, I'm too old to bull crap...
I'm like John Jaeckel I don't post stuff just to do it, I'm not a rumor guy.
but If I hear something and it makes sense, I'll post it. - aries1976
Well, if you're right I think Volchenkov would be a good partner for Dion, if he can stay healthy. |

These tandems don't work...Both want to be #1...Reimer in the right package would bring much needed help on the defense or maybe a #1 center... - Flyfreaky
Okay but we don't know how both will turn out... let us run our little tandem for couple years THEN, if we want, we will trade one of them to you guys I know you want one of them but you have to be patient |

Volchenkov might be better.... Murray is slow....
leafs play an up tempo game lots of north-south.... not sold Murray
would be the best acquisition, but wouldn't be completely against him..
depends on the money I guess. - aries1976

But thats risky if Bernier isn't as good. Goaltending was fine. Maybe they flip Bernier in a package, that'd be cool. |

I might be in the minority, but I wouldn't mind Weiss.
when healthy he is effective, and if he wants to be here, he might be one
very determined player.... he lost his heart in florida, you could tell....
if he feels re-incarnated, love to see what he does in blue and white. - aries1976
price is the issue.
He's better than Bozak, but I don't want to pay either of them $5M as long as Grabo is here.
No point in having Kadri, Grabo, and Weiss (or Bozak).
Kadri and 1 of the other 3, but only 1. And I'm fine with keeping Grabo if these are the options. |

Anton would be solid for the PK, and clearing the crease, and a few ACC rocking hits. average skater.

Stupid acquisition. Bernier is a great goalie, but this is ZERO upgrade from Reimer. Funny how Bernier is all of a sudden a legitimate starting goalie as soon as he comes to the Leafs. He's never played more than 25 games in the league. Leafs screw with another goalie in Reimer. He was the only reason they made any noise this year... - TylerSeguin19
Not many people are saying he is an upgrade on Reimer. But he's an upgrade on Scrivens and could very well turn into an upgrade on Reimer.
I personally think Reimer is starting at #1 and its up to Bernier to take it from him.
There is nothing wrong with having a 1A and 1B tandem though. |

You guys, it's not about losing Scrivens and Frattin, no one cares. It's Reimer. No one in the Leafs thread had any issue with the goaltending. Bernier brings total goaltending controversy with him. Reimer earned the number one spot and is better in all areas as of now. Bernier is coming for one reason, to run him out of a job. Reimer is young, proven and has been told for months in the media from Nonis himself, that they were trying to get a verteran backup ala Vokoun in Pittsburgh. The trade will create a media frenzy over who going to play every night. I was happy with the nice simple net situation this year. - aminnes
I so agree with this angle. The assets we paid weren't particularly valuable, but it's a shot at Reimer, who played as well as we could have expected any goalie to play.
The assets probably could have been used elsewhere, too.
It's not a bad move if they hang onto both and allow both a shot at becoming a star goalie. But I have a bad feeling they're going to jump into this move with both feet and move Reimer out.
Three goalies and we're going to be gambling big time on Bernier. The last time that happened, it wasn't pretty. |

I do think he's a slight upgrade on Reimer, an absolute upgrade on Scrivens.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, I like the trade a lot, he's one of the best goalie prospects in the league.

You're missing the sell high point...After a few years one of them or both could be a bust...Lets go with Bernier and move Reimer to fix other needed areas... - Flyfreaky
Okay so we just made a trade, and you want us to make another trade not knowing how one will turn out or even see how it will turn out? What the (frank) IS THIS? POKER? Just guessing if your going to win a hand or not, the unknown? There is absolutely no point in trading any of them. Both can achieve success and IF EVER REIMER OR BERNIER BECOME SUPERSTARS, we can trade them eventually while their value just increased and sky rocketed, the end. |

1st up, Media's been calling him a future #1 for literally 3 years.
2nd, nobody in here has said he's the #1.
Keep your head up your ass though, I know it's been there so long you nobody would recognize you if you took it out. |

But he wants a number one job and the club has been saying that for a long time that they needed a vet. Bernier has been very public about the context of the trade he wants, which means he's coming to run Reimer out of here or relegate him. This is called treating your players like garbage, and creating unnecessary controversy. |

If you could get a Joe Thornton type center by adding Reimer into the deal, would you do it? |

Leafs traded for Bernier because the Oilers wanted Bernier but Kings wouldn't trade Oilers Bernier.
I suggest Gardiner+Bernier+3rd round pick for Gagner+Paajarvi+5th round pick
I like Dubnyk as Oilers starting Goalie..but Bernier would be a solid backup for now, in a year or two they could split 40 games a piece and after that decide whose the long term number one in Edmonton. - oilers2k14
holy poop if its Gagner and N Schultz for Reimer and Gardiner, Oil lose that trade. Oil would need a center back
being a big Oiler fan i dont want them to give up Gagner... love Gagner. and they can afford him - FLYERSROCK!
