got an email guys... no bull poop..
( I Work for CBC sports, I do know some people in the Know)

Negotiations are intense towards getting Clarkson and Volchenkov....
won't make any assumptions on what goes to NJ, or how far this goes.

something to keep an ear out for....

Oh my God, are we really lamenting the loss of Scrivens?

Really?

Heard several rumors of a clarkson rights deal.
- burn

Clarkson would be a nice signing if the leafs buyout komi right now. The leafs try to expend liles+ in a trade for stastny, and do something with grabo either buyout or trade him for something, maybe some defense?

Not really concerned for phaneuf leaving a gap. We have about 4 defenders that are capable of being in the 3 pairings. Free agency can do the rest for us
- Mapleleafs_91

Well you'd have to make that trade if it was available since you'd be screwing Edmonton pretty nicely, but I doubt Toronto could fill Phaneuf's minutes without seeing a noticeable decline in team defensive play.

No no, but it's the whole of the deal. Unless Bernier is really awesome its a trade that won't be realized for a while. Bernier to me might have required one of the two of Scrivens and Frattin, both hmmmm, time will tell.
- aminnes

Really?

On how many NHL teams do you think both those guys are regulars? Cause Scrivens only was by default for the Leafs, and Frattin wasn't.

2 guys who barely cracked the lineup for a bonifide upgrade in goal? Easy win, even with the 2nd.

And I'm not 100% sold Bernier will take the starting job from Reimer, but I for damn sure know he's better than Scrivens, and that's all that matters.

good trade.

Scrivens is a borderline NHLer.

Nice guy. I wish him all the best.

But I couldn't care less that he is gone.

Lemme explain something to you... not even phaneuf could handle those minutes. Which is why you saw more mistakes from him, etc, because too much pressure was on him and too much minutes

I'd like Clarkson more, if he gel's with Kadri....

can you imagine how much bravado Kadri would have with Clarkson looking after him on his wing....

Clarkson makes total sense...making 4M will be fine, if leafs start shedding some salary through trade or buyouts

Why wouldn't he be? Who needs young centers with superstar potential? Not Edmonton. They need a decent defenseman with a big forehead and even bigger contract.

The fact that he had to play that many minutes really shows how bad off the Leafs are on D after him though.

You know that Reimer has more games, wins, shutouts, and a better save percentage than Bernier, right? I'm not saying the potential isn't there, but don't kid yourself and think that Bernier is going to be handed the job; having two young goalies duking it out for the number #1 spot is what we should've done with Rask and Pogge and I'm happy for that, but if Bernier's the same goalie as Reimer, can we then move Reimer for a 1st, a roster player, and a young backup?

exactly... and the moment they acquired Bernier, Scrivens lost what little trade Value he had, cause now everybody knows he's not a Leaf anymore, he's at best a Marlie - ergo nobody's giving them more than a 7th rounder for him.

And unless I'm mistaken, he would have to have cleared waivers after training camp to play for Marlies, would he not? Might be wrong about that though...
