The Leafs won't trade Phaneuf, thats ridiculous.

The Bernier trade is a steal, its not anywhere close to an overpayment, unless you say LA overpaid to get Frattin - which they did, by a mile.

Sucks for Riemer he didnt deserve to lose his job, but its not evey day you can potentially add a franchise player to your roster, so you gotta go for it. Goalies who can make the nhl all have potential to go on good runs, but you need to get a Price or a Lunquivst or a Miller to give yourself a chance every year. So, if Bernier can be that guy - and obivously they don';t think Riemer can - you gotta take the chance. Low risk high reward play, really.

- Jimmy_Tea

I never said they would or should trade Phaneuf or that the Bernier was an overpayment on either side.

How much more? Every time they stretch his minutes they pay for it I like Dion a lot, just realize what he is. Leafs ask him to do more than he can.
- 50 Mission Cap

25 average minutes per game..... yeah they do but getting rid of him isnt the answer...how many d-manin the nhl can truely handle 25 minutes a game?

Yeah... I'm not completely into the advanced stats but one to consider is that Phaneuf has the toughest match up out of any D-man in the league...

that deal would require the Leafs including someone else who's weighs a bunch... so that the deal wouldn't be so one-sided, apparently big Buf is taking the nick name thing a little to much to heart.
- BorjeFan4Ever

I would do that deal even if Buff is his reported 320lbs

It takes Buf 5 months of the season just to get back into shape.

Toronto has a lot of holes in the forward position now....

komarov gone, bozak most likely gone, frattin gone, macarthur most likely gone... who are they gonna replace these guys with?

colborne should get a shot, but besides him, who else could step in?

11th best defenceman in the NHL.

Sorry, but you are being ridiculous.

- Atomic Wedgie

It's just my opinion, but ask or listen. Dion is a really good d man. But does not have the endurance to stretch his minutes.

The captain thing,..... I feel he makes to many bad decisions..

Colborne, Ashton, Gunner to WPG for Byfuglien and Burmistrov

I can't see that... I think Phaneuf is safe, but Nonis just wants to let teams know that any deal will be considered
- lumlums

Agreed that Phanuef is safe unless the Leafs trade for a stud d man who can be #1 than Phanuef may be in play but that aint likely to happen. Can't trade Phanuef without replacing him, that would be a huge hole to fill.

Ashton, Colborne, Clarkson. Biggs and Ross should get a shot at the 2014/15 roster.

it's a scapegoat position.... forwards mistake turn into an odd man rush.. d-mans mistke turn into prime scoring chances.... and if it ends up in the back of the net it's the D fault.

Hearing Leafs have had discussions with Oilers about Sam Gagner. Leafs are looking for a young centre and he certainly fits the bill.
