Depends on the goalie. I think that in a few years everyone will love this trade, but that's just my gut feeling. We obviously have other needs, but Nonis said he wanted to upgrade where possible, and he has done that.

We really needed Scrivens. Frattin is near irreplaceable and that 2015 2nd will be the next Datsyuk. Tell me, did I read your mind? Don't even have to answer because I know, I (frank)ing know.

Mabie there is a player in the top 20 that the Leafs covet but they know won't be available for their 21st pick so perhaps they'll trade Bernier to NJ for NJ's 9th pick & the rights to Clarkson.


My other thought is that if the Avs pick McKinnon the C, does this mean they'll trade Statsny?

Nope, trading what Van wanted for Lou would have been dumb. This makes us better and guarantees were binging in a big UFA winger.

IMO next to Kadri, Frattin was number 2 asset. Any Marlie replacing him is a downgrade. Scrivens wasn't terrible.

You get really an unproven NHL goalie. Goaltending wasn't the issue.

By being porous.. Go check the stats, very good possession time yet a ton of shots.

Great deal IMO....Every team that enters the playoffs needs a solid 1-2 punch in net and this is what this trade is all about.

However I still think that they will flip one of them for a bigger need. I can see them trading Bernier and picking up a #1 center or dman and sign a veteran to back up Reimer. In today's market Frattin, Scrivens and a 2nd pick won't fetch much out of nhl teams but Bernier + will get you something a lot bigger

don't know much about frattin but from what i read on this board, he's a good 3rd line winger. it's easier to replace a guy like that than to get a potential franchise goalie, or at the least, a bonafide #1 goaltender, which bernier is more likely to develop into than not.
