I'll tell you what he wouldn't allow in the locker room, and that's the trying hard but being ok with losing mentality. That would not fly with him for even a second.
- kingcong39

yea I hear Dubey likes losing. What a dumb comment. No one in the league is okay with losing

Let me say this . You are a darn good one ! Your grasp with reality is as out of touch as the top trolls around . Your mother must be so proud !!!

I like it..nice response haha

Seriously though, what would it take to get those two out of Buffalo, what do you Sabres command?

Actually reports are Miller is open to staying and Vanek wants out
- OneKaneOneCup

I like Vanek but this might be the year to trade him. He would command a lot of attention and get you a good return. However with the goalie market the way it is and with Enroth coming off such a great World Cup, Miller should be traded too. There are numerous teams like Minny, Pho, NYI, Flo, Tor... that are looking for a starter. Again you could come back with a 1B goalie and some great prospects or a good pick.

By parting with these two this year and getting a handful of young guys. You can add a good pick next year and have money for a better (hopefully more reasonable) UFA market. Barring all the potential UFA's resign this season, next year should be your target for signing big names. This year you should collect young guys on the verge.

With that said, Paajarvi and Lander do fit that bill but they are not going to be given up for Stafford. I might see Oilers go after Vanek again. They did the offer sheet that made him so expensive. However that is the deal I see hemsky as being part of. High salaries going each way. Vanek is great at 5.5 mil to 6 mil, Hemsky is great at 3.5 mil. I am not thinking straight up. I am thinking Edm first round next year or Paajarvi going as well and maybe a token back. Or Ott might be a possibility as part of the deal and Lander + more would come in return for the exchange of centers.

There is room for a trade as Edm has tons of young prospects. However I am not sold that one will be made.

Stafford and a 1st rd pick to Edm. for Sam Gagner.

Gagner is an Ontario product who really broke out this yr with 38 points in 48 games. He'd be great for this rebuild.s

- SuperCat

They won't trade Gagner unless they get a center in return
And I don't see where he fits here anyways?
Even if u move Ennis back to LW...
Gagner is the same type player
Which center is gonna match up defensively against othe teams top lines?

Those saying we should trade up for MacKinnon, should really be hoping its for Barkov...
Best defensive forward in the draft, compared to Datsyuk
Offensively, called a "long lost Sedin brother"

Kid is gonna be a beast!

Still unlikely WR can trade up to get him,
But it's a more reasonable target than #1

jesus (frank)ing christ. EDM DOESN'T WANT MILLER! DUBEY HAD THE 12TH HIGHEST SV% AMONG STARTERS!! BETTER THAN MILLER'S! ALSO MILLER IS NOT WORTH THE 7TH OVERALL!!!!!!!

You'd think I wouldn't have to say this

Nice take on the situation
Hemsky won't be coming to Buffalo, unless he's a "throw in" bc u guys wanna dump the salary
That just doesn't make sense though... I see no reason u couldn't trade him for at least a 2nd... If u wait till the deadline, prob more
Vanek makes sense for any team
ESP if the Sabres pay half his salary
He'll get a great return
One of the best goal scorers in the league

Dude you're overhyping him Garth style. There is a reason he isn't being put in the same category as Mackinnon, Drouin and Jones. He's good, he's really good but you make him sound like he's God on skates.

Again he'll probably be a really good hockey player, but I'm not "emptying the cupboard" for him so to speak. Also IMO Monahan is better defensively than Barkov, especially when you look at what he had to work with.

Personally for Vanek I would want a top prospect, 1st and maybe a later round pick thrown in there. For Miller who knows with the goalie market. I cant see a team giving up too much for him.

Im hoping the Sabres get Monahan. Seems like its reasonable to trade up a couple spots to get him and he has potential to be a big number 1 center.

We'd probably have to trade with Carolina if we really wanted him, Calgary will be all over him at 6.

Ya, if they really like him then throw in a second round pick to trade up a few spots. Thats all it will probably take assuming they think their guy is going to be there at 8 (I see them wanting Nurse).

Grigorenko at this point is untouchable unless it's to draft in the top 3 this year or next. It's not that I think he's superhuman, just that he's probably the best young player/prospect we've got so unless it is for a better prospect he's not going anywhere.

If Myers gets dealt it will probably be for someone that is in the same situation as him. High ceiling, a lot of potential but has been struggling and maybe needs a change in scenery. One name that comes to mind is Skinner.

I agree, you'd definitely would have to add the 8th and instead of the 16th. However they may say no if they aren't confident they could get vanek for more years. I realize the point is to rid themselves of lecavaliers contract but he's still a useful player. So they'd be out a useful player and a future franchise player for one year of a top line winger (potentially) and the 8th overall who Is likely not franchise material.

I think to make it work you'll need both the 8th and 16 IMO.

- ystoil

The 8th, yes. Both the 8th & 16th? No chance.

Vinny's contract is an eternity long at a big number. The contract is the entire reason they would trade him and the entire reason a huge return would never come back. It's the same reason Vancouver has had a difficult time trading Luongo, because he is rightly worth more then what anyone is offering, but his contract is what is greatly dampening the return.

If the rumored possible Winnipeg deal is real, I would trade Stafford all day to them for Burmistrov, who is an RFA and not getting a big deal, just for the cap space savings alone.
