Idk if I want bernier for the asking price
His size worries me on how injury prone he will be in the NHL
Also could he play behind our still mediocre defense?

Say what you want but I still think Nilsson or Poulin deserves a shot

Lmao on the Toronto blog reports have Toronto possibly trading Phaneuf and Kulemin for Bernier and a 5th.

So if the islanders wanted to beat that what would it look like?

- 2raven2

Totally made up, there's no way in hell the Kings are taking on 9 million in salary.

I've heard Frattin and a first from Toronto or Read and a first from Philly... Those sound more likely in terms of cap hit that LA takes back... They don't want something expensive. My guess it'll be something around that, even though it sounds pretty high to me... That's just what I heard though.

I believe we should run with what we have in Nilsson & Poulin also, I'm confused thou as to what Bernier's size & how it relates to how injury prone he might be in the NHL??

When Lucic or Kane takes a run at him, he's more likely to get destroyed than say miller or Rinne

I think now wants to see who gets bought out and he'll go from there...Like I said before, I would go after Mike Smith from Phoenix...either trade a pick (like a 4th) for him or wait until he hits the open market. He made $2 million last year...I would think he wants at least $4.5 million per year probably for 3 years...tough call...

Smith might want a longer term contract, it probably be his last contract and might be looking for a 4-5yr deal, it what these rumors say are true....
so Smith would be a logical choice, but not for Isles...

What if Miller was signed to an extension before the trade?

It is very well known that most goalies don't enter their "primes" until they are at least 30. And we all know what Miller looked like as a goalie during an Olympic year last time.....

Miller with extension, 2nd rounder, and Flynn for Moulson and Nino.

Nino isn't gonna stay with NYI.. he wants off.. you guys have no leverage with him when his RFA rights come up.. you have to deal him.

- MillerTime1130

Why do the isles "have" to deal NiƱo? They don't have to do anything. They control his rights for another 5 years. He's going nowhere if the isles don't want him to.

I still don't understand why anyone thinks Miller is a good fit with the isles. He's not. He'll be 33 this year, going into the las year of his deal. He's going to want $6-7M per year and at least 5 years, meaning you'll be paying a 37 year old goaltender on the decline $6-7M on the back nine of his career in the middle of the Isles true window of opportunity to contend. Miller will be beyond his prime and declining when the Isles are truly deep enough to win it all. Why would the Isles trade for a guy like that and give up serious assets to do it?

I think Poulin has been given a decent amount of shots. I still do not see the improvement and he hasn't been great in Bridgeport either. He reminds me of DP. As for health Nillson worries me more than Bernier.

def a package w/Nino.....

Hiller is good, but has vertigo issues, but would still take a chance on him.
Ducks are also looking to unload a high salary D-man.

maybe something like;

Ryan, Hiller, Sbisa or Allen

for

Nino, A-mac, Poulin, 1st rd pick

more with picks or adding another player?

remember we are also helping with taking back a D-man w/high salary to help them
cause they soon need to sign some of their up-in-coming rookies, or players ending their ECL contracts...

hmmm...3-way under the radar deal? Not likely, but could work...

PITT: Bernier + 2nd rd (LA) + 2nd rd (CGY)
CGY: Fleury + Bortuzzo
LA: 22nd overall + TK

LA gets a decent 1st round pick and a player who will add some speed and scoring to their 2nd or 3rd line. CGY gets an established goalie at a relatively cheap trade-price and a young stay-at-home D. PITT moves on to a younger goalie who splits time learning from Vokoun and a couple of picks (maybe it's a 3rd from CGY), and cap relief.

Well you always seem more to take a chance and lose more than most people which is fine but I'm not going to lie I'd be cool with some better proven talent. Not that bernier was that bit I'd love to have a more definitive answer then what we've been doing for the last six years.

I couldn't fault that type of move... I think Nino can be a hell of a player.. But BR already is. The first is a crap shoot.. it should be a serviceable NHL player.. but it could be nada.

I just don't think its enough in Anaheim's eyes.

If Bernier was proven I wouldn't argue with that... But he really hasn't proven anything either.

You cant trade what you have that could become what you need. (power forward)
for a player (Bernier) that could become what you need that you already have (Poulin/Nilsson).
