Bernier to the Wild for Clutterbuck...NYI should try and sign Backstrom, they've got plenty of cap space. - sudburyboy
Clutterbuck and Brown and Pancakes and Nolan and King on the same team would be hilarious. |

Unless I missed something. There arent any UFA Goalies this yr that could help us much.
Resigning Nabby as our #1 for a 82 game season would be a disaster IMO. He ran out of gas after a 48 game season and was one of the reasons we failed to Upset a Flawed Pens team that proved once again (2 yrs running) to be paper tigers.
We have the chips. Time to pay the piper and bring in a goalie.
I think we can put together a defensive squad from within and wait one more yr for our "D" prospects to develop but I'd love to see a Goalie and a talented forward brought in this summer. - SCLI
There are some UFA goalies available, but not great, and might be a better option than Nabby.
Plus there might be a few who might get bought out, and there's a couple of teams looking to shed payroll and trade...
Isles should not over-pay for a goalie bc of the 2 kids we have in system, but need to get a better option to bridge the gap moving forward....
Few names Khudobin, Backstrom, Greiss, Smith, Ellis, in FA
Hiller, Halak , by trade
Luongo, Bryz, if bought out |

He said he had top 4 potential right? - Vukota
Someone quoted him on here as saying he was a top four dman. I didn't actually see it. |

I think what people need to realize is that "TOP PARING" means a guy who can play 25 min a game and be put our against top players. Not that he's gonna win a Norris or lead D-men in goals or points.
I'm sure Streit can have that potential.. I think he's a bit small & most likely would top out as a second pair type guy. But people forget that those Norris type players have to have a partner & I think that Snow feels that Streit could play co-pilot to a true #1 d-men. A perfect example of that was Brian Leetch & James Patrick... Leetch was the true #1 & Patrick was the perfect guy to ride shotgun.
Just sayin.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
Well if he thinks he can play twenty five minutes a game effectively and against the other top teams best players effectively that's just as nuts from what I've seen. He's not that good. Maybe he will be but if that's the role he's thinking I want another dman even more |

You forgot Miller by trade and if you are an insane person you can add Fleury as well |

Well we need that "it" guy to play with him in the top pairing or the second pairing.

If RDP isn't injured atm and the Islanders choose to not buy him out with a buyout added to the CBA specifically for players like him and next year he gets injured and you are stuck with him then Snow should just quit himself lmao - Meeqsb
from an interview when RDP was put on waivers and sent to AHL team.
Rose: "Do you think he(RDP) can still be at least a quasi-successful goaltender in the National Hockey League?"
Snow: "I think he can. He's made some brilliant saves this year. The ability is there. It's a situation where he just needs to get consistent game action. You can't replicate it in practice."

Still a stretch by a longshot. - jmo16
Agreed, though I think Snow was about sincere about it as he was in calling Boyes a power forward. It's all gm speak for, even if we don't fill that position we're okay.

I only listed what would be reasonable to Snow's liking,
That's why I didn't add Miller, Bernier, Fleury, etc.... Snow will not over-pay |

No, you're right.
From the article:
he cited Brian Strait’s pre-injury play. “I feel that Strait is a top 4 defenseman in this league.”
Xxkeaner17xX - keaner17
Not to split hairs but Vukota said "potential" which makes it more plausible. Snow did not say that. He said he was a top four in this league. For all I know he can win the Norris next year but from what we've seen I'd have a hard time calling him a top four |

That is horrifying lmao. I don't think any GM in the league thrinks RDP could be a starting goalie anymore. |

It's all out of respect to RDP. He couldn't possibly think that. He will never suit up in an isles uniform ever again. It's not a coincidence that as soon as he got demoted the team turned a corner. |

Lmao on the Toronto blog reports have Toronto possibly trading Phaneuf and Kulemin for Bernier and a 5th.
So if the islanders wanted to beat that what would it look like? |

Even though he's unproven Nino and a second should do it if that's all its taking. Kulemin is a pretty good player though. |

If he's a top four on our team... that makes him a top 4 in the NHL.
