We'll trade you Miller and a 3rd rounder for Moulson and Nino. - MillerTime1130
Snow is not trading Moulson...for Luongo, Bernier or anyone...if Philly or TO wants to give LA more than someone like Nino and a pick then all power to them, would rather pass on him. would like Bernier but not giving up more. Hiller and Ryan, now that would be interesting for the Isles....but Moulson isn't getting traded ...and as far as Nino this time next year he may have all kinds of value. I'm sure LA figured the isles would give them Nino , Poulin and Strome or something crazy like that....FAIL!!!! |

What if Miller was signed to an extension before the trade?
It is very well known that most goalies don't enter their "primes" until they are at least 30. And we all know what Miller looked like as a goalie during an Olympic year last time.....
Miller with extension, 2nd rounder, and Flynn for Moulson and Nino.
Nino isn't gonna stay with NYI.. he wants off.. you guys have no leverage with him when his RFA rights come up.. you have to deal him. - MillerTime1130
Why not?
Says who?
His RFA rights are up in what 6 years?
No we dont.

That Strait comment was frightening. If RDP is inserted back into the line up I'll shat myself. Hopefully he's looking into another option in goal not named RDP or Luongo. - Cptmjl

I love Philly. Holmgren is addicted to the shopping channel. Soon to appear on the NHL version of "hoarders"

Probably can find it on IslandersTV. Am 99% sure he said Top Pair. It was discussed/brought up after he said it, much to everyone's disbelief. |

Unless I missed something. There arent any UFA Goalies this yr that could help us much.
Resigning Nabby as our #1 for a 82 game season would be a disaster IMO. He ran out of gas after a 48 game season and was one of the reasons we failed to Upset a Flawed Pens team that proved once again (2 yrs running) to be paper tigers.
We have the chips. Time to pay the piper and bring in a goalie.
I think we can put together a defensive squad from within and wait one more yr for our "D" prospects to develop but I'd love to see a Goalie and a talented forward brought in this summer. |

I think what people need to realize is that "TOP PARING" means a guy who can play 25 min a game and be put our against top players. Not that he's gonna win a Norris or lead D-men in goals or points.
I'm sure Streit can have that potential.. I think he's a bit small & most likely would top out as a second pair type guy. But people forget that those Norris type players have to have a partner & I think that Snow feels that Streit could play co-pilot to a true #1 d-men. A perfect example of that was Brian Leetch & James Patrick... Leetch was the true #1 & Patrick was the perfect guy to ride shotgun.
Just sayin.

Counter offer: Isles trade Puilon and Bailey for Freakorenko, My Wife Hates Buffalo and the 1st round we got for our former piss poor captain. |

Bernier to the Wild for Clutterbuck...NYI should try and sign Backstrom, they've got plenty of cap space. |

No, you're right.
From the article:
he cited Brian Strait’s pre-injury play. “I feel that Strait is a top 4 defenseman in this league.”

The Wild would then have Harding, Bernier and Kuemper competing for 3 spots. What happens if Gustafsson comes over and challenges for a spot? |

Bernier seems like he's gonna be a pretty safe bet as a starter for almost any team that doesn't have Quick.

Good.. I'm glad we aren't going in on Bernier.. honestly would rather get Lu from Vancouver for Howden, Clem, and a 2nd or something. Luongo and Markstrom as a goaltending tandem... I dig it. - Panthers88
Lmao trading back howden(who was selected from Van's 1st in the Ballard trade) for a 34 year old goalie signed past 2020 on a rebuilding team. Ohh that is just too hilarious for me to hand if it happened. |

My gut tells me they may be looking at the goalie situation something like this: RDP is $4.5M/yr...We're gonna set a goalie budget at $6.5-$7.0M per year for a starter and a backup. Rick will be the most expensive backup(after Luongo) in the league. If he is invited to camp, I think this could be the reality of what they do with Rick, of course contingent on his health, while lighting a candle each day and praying that he gets frustrated and retires. - jmo16
If RDP isn't injured atm and the Islanders choose to not buy him out with a buyout added to the CBA specifically for players like him and next year he gets injured and you are stuck with him then Snow should just quit himself lmao |
