Listen, I'm not arguing whether Bernier is a good tender or not, I believe he could be. But that doesn't change the fact that his pedigree is that of a backup goaltender, with little experience and no experience whatsoever handling the starting gig, in Toronto no less. It's a different animal. When he let's a goal in he can expect to have to answer WHY he let that goal in while he's moving his bowels, answer why he is on a 2 game losing streak and what he needs to change while having dinner with his woman.
Anton Khubodin went 9-4-1 in relief of Rask this year and I don't think you would be lining up to give him a first and a prospect either.
It just doesn't make sense. You have a good, humble kid who is under contract, you know can handle the pressure of Toronto and just took your team to OT in game 7 against the Bruins. Nevermind that he is the first goalie to be drafted and come through the system since Felix Potvin. It just simply doesn't make sense to give up assets for a "maybe".
I like Bernier a lot myself, but the Toronto Maple Leafs have way bigger issues to address than their goaltending. - Mrbs71
I don't disagree with anything you just said. My only point was he is a goalie with excellent potential, and that there is indeed a reason to offer more than what the cost of an offer sheet would send back the other way.
I am in no way trying to advocate that Bernier is the solution to all of Toronto's problems. |

Bozak just tweeted a video of Chris Bosh being an idiot! I'd say sign him 6 years 14 million a year - steve362
OMG really it's just confetti getting stuck in his mouth once and the tape is looped its a 3 second video of confetti falling down as the team sits together for a team pic with their trophy. Someone looped the tape and shows it over and over. I say dont worry about it and who cares anymore about Chris Bosh.
I told anyone who'd listen Bosh was going to walk to a championship and here it is again. |

I think Raycroft tied the record for wins with shootouts counting. Belfour didn't have those to pad his numbers. |

Well that escalated quickly... are you Bosh's significant other? cause that's cool and all! If not would you like a hug? or maybe a hurt feelings report? |

Clutterbuck's a gem. He's pretty much Dustin Brown a pooptier name and a prettier smile. |

Everyone has no experience until someone lets him just because hes been a back doesn't mean that's all he is good for/ if you don't get the experience you never find out what you are. And honestly i like Reimer but i don't see him lifting us a cup but I can see that with Bernier. |

Agreed. No argument about his potential. He'll probably be a stud for years. Just think the TML should be stockpiling, not trading away assets.
But somebody else will probably be happy with Bernier. |

Now is the time to use those assets to get you to the next level when Burke traded for Kessel it was just bad timing they where rebuilding and wasint the right time to bring in someone who can play at the nhl level. The Leafs have alot of young talented prospects right now and if you can use those to bring in another kessel then perfect the team is playoff ready time to bring in some pieces that can play in the top spots for the next 5 years to make a push for the cup. |

Let's just combine the two teams!
Simmonds - Giroux - Kessel
van Reimsdyk - Kadri - Voracek
Lupul - B.Schenn - Read
Hartnell - McClement - Talbot |

I just don't get it. Someone please tell me, did Reimer not do exactly what we would want from a young goalie last year? Is there something that make his stats not meaningful that I am missing?
The only way this will not seem bizarre to me is if they acquire Bernier but use Reimer to fill a hole at another position.
Did we not learn about trading first round picks and letting good young goalies go already? WTF
If they trade a first for Bernier and he's no better than Reimer I'm going to be so mad that I will purchase slightly less Leafs paraphanalia in the following months. |

As as Sabres fan, I'm not the biggest Leafs fan, as you can imagine. I do however like when the Leafs are good. I don't understand how trading a ton of assets for Bernier when Reimer was pretty good last year helps the team.
Hell, the last time the Leafs gave up on a goalie too soon they got Pogge for 1/3 of a season and the other guy is in the cup finals now. I really hope Nonnis doesn't get Bernier. You guys deserve better! |

The Leafs in on Bernier makes no sense to me...Any trades they make should be used to upgrade the offense or defense... |

Well Reimer didn't really have they playoffs management hoped for. His rebounds where god offal. Yes it was his first crack at it but still i think that's why this option is being looked at. |
