Ugh. Why? They better not cough up the farm or any part of the pasture. - weirdoh
I don't get it either. Reimer is a good starter. He's proven it. He had some isses with the concussion but looks good again. Bernier is all hype IMO. I don't see him being a starter. |

According to a solid source (weirdoh), it's Phaneuf and Kulemin for Bernier and a 5th round pick. - Symba007
I hear the sticking point is the 5th round pick.

Philly is the only team more oft-mentioned than the Leafs. |

Yes! and Sparkes looks like he could be a diamond in the rough.... Or he could be Justin Pogge - steve362
Mark my words - Sparks is the former and won't be the latter. Garret is a good guy too. Humble, fiercely focused, and competitive. Wish he was in our system....

Fact is, he has not yet proven anything.. Reimer's been injured the past two seasons. It comes down to how much faith do the Leafs have in Scrivens |

Reimer is coming your way in another deal and the Leafs need to replace him. |

They have Dubnyk, who like Reimer constantly gets undervalued despite putting up numbers. |

We're good with our Starter thanks. If anyone wants to send Pietrangelo, McDonagh, Carlson our way then great!
But no we aren't sending any of the super kids the other way in the deal. |

This.
Even if we blow our 1st and some mid-level prospect i'm alright with it.
Bernier is better than Reimer. Reimer is a good goalie but he's a 15-20 Goalie at best. Bernier has more up-side.
Plus even if we acquire Bernier and Reimer turns out to be a superstar, then we have two amazing goalies that are 24-25. which is a good problem to have. - JDBrickz
Guess you didn't watch hockey last year eh? |

they must be tradng scrivens because this makes no sence to give up thatgmuch for a unproven goalie |

Sorry but Dubnyk sucks iggy. He plays behind a defense better than Boston's and can't even get in the playoffs. |

So Schneider after 98 games with one of the best teams in the league, winning Presidents trophies has a 927 sv. Pct.
Reimer, in 105 games with the team with the longest playoff drought in the league, until last year has a 915 sv. % and that includes playing half a season after a concussion.
Don't the Leafs have bigger holes to fill?

Mike Augello: Report: Leafs Step Up Offer For Bernier - mikeinbuffalo
I have a sneaking suspicion that this off-season is going to be a lot more disappointing than most Leafs fans had in mind.
I don't mind parting with the first rounder, but I'd be more inclined to spend it or literally every other position. |

I personally don't even understand the interest, especially not at the cost of our first+.
Can't they find some cheap vet to backup Reimer?

This is all you need to know about Reimer.....over the past 3 years the Leafs record
with: 53-32-14 ..... a 99 point team
without: 45-56-12.......a 74 point team. |
