All you've said is scouts say, which I'd love to know which scouts you're conversing with. I've used numbers to back my points up, but if you really want to go the scouts route, feel free to provide quotes that say Bernier is 10x more talented than Reimer. What I've heard is that Reimer is pretty solid at squaring up against the shooter and has a great ability to take away the bottom part of the net. His weakness is the top portion of the net. But to most of them he has proven he is a #1 goalie. Is he a championship goalie? Obviously not, but like Bernier, who knows how his game will improve or how he will evolve.

If you want to read scouting reports, they are widely available on the internet and also in the yearbook magazines available each fall. You can also inquire with teams and get their names and if you email them, some of them are more than happy to email you back.

No way Nonis gives up a 1st for just Bernier.

He can just offer sheet him in a week anyway.

Gardiner is not going anywhere unless for a bona fide #1C.

SO sick of hearing about number one centres. The three centres the Leafs have make them very deep at centre. And they have Colbourne. I realize none of these guys is your name brand Stamkos, but Boston is about to win the cup with Krejci, who no one would have called a name brand true number one bona fide #1 centre before a month ago. In fact, the Leafs need a goalie and a partner for Dion much more than they need a centre, a position they are deep at.

you base this on what? raycroft gustuvson pogge all had massive potential as well before getting their shots... where are they now? Reimers done everything weve asked from a goalie... why give up assets that could be used for something we actually need? not to mention we are already a bit lacking in top 4 dmen and giving up gunnerson would only make us lack it more
- DarcyTucker16

Ok, don't know why I would argue with someone who thinks Carl Gunnerson is a "top four defencemen" on any other team in the league, but the goalies you mentioned were never prospects in the way Bernier is regarded. I love how everyone knows better than Nonis - like, don't give up assets for something we don't need, except you know, that they do need it. They need a number one goalie because that is the most efficient way to build your team. Riemer has been good, sure, but lots of goalies play good for a year or two and fade away. What every gm wants is a brodeur, a Lunquivst, a Roy. We know Riemer will never be that, but Bernier could be. Maybe he won't be, no guarentees, but if you wanna win a cup, you gotta go for it when a player of his ilk is available. This reminds me so much of the Schenn for JVR trade because JVR has superstar potential.

I don't care which player has "proved" what. If you watch their actual skills, Bernier is a thoroughbread; Reimer is luckey to be in the NHL and I can , with 95% certainty predict who will have a better career: Bernier.

This is ridiculous on so many levels I'm not even sure where to start. You just can't ignore all the stats and evidence because it doesn't suit your narrative.

Why would it be bad if Reimer maxed out where he is now?

If the last year is his career for the next 10 years, he'd make the bloody HOF.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Wow. So if he gets a career full of fifth place finishes and first round exits that is enough for the hall of fame. I can't beleive this is an argument. We would replace Bozak if we could get Nugent Hopkins, even though Bozak has "proven" so much more. Bottom line, you gotta go with talent and leave the feelings for people who arent professionals. Berneier > Riemer by about the power for fifty.

will have to sweep the Orioles to tie their record...very doubtful as they are playing well also

11 win in a row (twice)
June 2-13, 1987
Aug. 27-Sept. 7, 1998

I suspect Kawasaki will be sent down when Reyes is back...its too bad, he has been a lot of fun to watch, hes average but very entertaining

- senstroll

Average at the plate but pretty good glove. I agree that he's fun to watch.

What stats? What evidence?

Why are people so in love with Riemer? He is, at best, a middle of the road starting goalie. There is tons of evidence to suggest Bernier could be a star. As for GUnnerson, lets look at the final four teams in the playoffs this year: would Gunnerson be "top four" on any of them? Absolutley not. So, what evidence am I ignoring?

See previous comment. If you're gonna be here, debate, but be respectful. I currently don't care how right or wrong you are, your tone is out of order.
