Having the Quick + Bernier tandem won LA a Stanley Cup. Bernier didn't factor in the postseason, but having confidence in the backup allowed Sutter to rest Quick down the stretch so Quick wouldn't be overworked for the playoffs. Every team's backup is going to play 15-25 games every season. If you have a backup that can win 81% of those games as Bernier did for the Kings this year, vs. 44% of the games as Scrivens did this year, you can add another 12 points to the Leafs' final standings this year. That puts them at 2nd in the East rather than 5th, and with Ottawa as a first round opponent rather than Boston.

LA didn't need to trade assets for Bernier while having a more pressing need for other positions....completely different situation. If Bernier was here at no cost, then sure, would live it.

And I'd say cracked because lines one through four the Bruins could apply a lot of pressure and have been there before in a big way.

Also that last two minutes of Game 7 regulation time was a miracle from God for the Bruins

Idk if it was a miracle when all the leafs had to literally do to win that game was sacrifice no one blocked a shot no one dove in dis-pare no one looked like they gave a poop at the time they stood there and didn't move. That game really made me think that they lost on purpose and Boston just had a free ride to the cup "win" because of politics. I'm not one for conspiracy theory crap but it does feel fishy.

I like Bernier. I think he has more upside than Reimer. That being said he is a risk and I would not want to overpay for him. Reimer is the safer bet.

However would those people complaining that this is a stupid trade and claiming Rask for Raycroft....

Reimer is the more experienced goalie (Raycroft) who has been inconsistent in his career (probably because of his concussion) and Bernier is the top prospect (Rask)......

Might still be a stupid trade but it is the reverse Raycroft for Rask as far as Toronto is concerned

Let's not kid ourselves here, Seguin is a Top 6 forward on every team in the league.

...except the team he plays for. I apologize if somebody has made that quip already.

F this noise... wtf does Optimus have to do to get the starters job... we finally have a goalie that we didnt trade away so lets kill his confidence by making sure to try every other goalie in the league first before we give it to him... huge mistake if we get bernier

Well Reimer didn't really have they playoffs management hoped for. His rebounds where god offal. Yes it was his first crack at it but still i think that's why this option is being looked at.
- jake24242

If a .923 sv% averaging 39 shots against per game is not what they were looking for in a 24 year old goalie playing his first NHL playoff games, I'm not sure what they want.

And I'm 100% sure Bernier isn't a clear upgrade on that, anyway.

Reimer straight up out-dueled Rask in games 5 and 6 to give us a fighting chance in the first place. Crawford and Lunqvist didn't fare any better and they finished inside the top 10 for Vezina voting.
