Yeah but it is all about the Avs telling Cal to go Eff themselves and they cant pull that crap.

Although the #6 overall and their 2nd would have been nice.

- Meeqsb

wow...missed oportunity there. You could pick a guy like Lindholm with the #6 pick, who's awesome (and is close to Landeskog)+ a 2nd round pick.

Keep in mind O'Reilly had t go through waivers had CGY signed him, which makes this deal eve more stupid.

I'd feel sorry for Feaster to be honest ..the truth is half of the guys here on this board could do a better job than him.
Where's everyone btw? This thing is dead. Hoping for some good news today..

Read this:

Elias Lindholm knows this pressure all too well. The media in his native Sweden are already billing him as the next Peter Forsberg.
“It’s fun when they’re talking about me and (Forsberg),” said Lindholm. “But it’s tough to be compared with him.”
The comparison to Forsberg, particularly in Sweden, is a lofty one. But it’s this kind of comparison that has Lindholm ranked as one of the top European skaters for the 2013 NHL entry draft. Like Forsberg, Lindholm is a complete player – a good skater, extremely smart, skilled with and without the puck, and both a deft passer and capable goal-scorer.

If we could get the #6 pick we probably could land him. I don't think he'll drop any farther.

I'm not sure if he is but with talent and playing a two-way game, he's worth it.

There's also another guy I really liked: Kerby Rychel, F. Have you ever heard of him? He's calm with the puck, can play the point on PP and can rip it from the slots. He's probably being drafted in the middle of the 1st round.

True..I wish we traded him for their 1st but it is unlikely.

Do you think Letang would re-sign with Nashville? They have Weber and now Josi making big bucks.

"Shero needs to shop Letang at the meetings and get a 2 way power forward to play with Sid and Dupers. Sid is taking way too many hits and is taken out of way too many plays, and I an talking about the playoffs, not the regular season. Two different style of games. In the playoffs, Sid is a marked man and we must stop the unnecessary hits on him and let him "be free" to do his thing.

If I were Shero, I would also shop Neal/Niskanen and get a big two way winger for Malkin and Kunitz. Malking needs to be set "free" in the playoff type games as well as he is a marked man.

We gotta protect the "two best guys in the world" so they can do their thing.

Oh, that means resiging Dupers, Cooke and Adams."

I like this guy's way of thinking. Most of you would be against trading Neal but for the right deal, I'd be open to it.

I think if iggy stays he can be that guy but Bylsma has to play him with sid and Bennett... and I am against trading neal.. his weaknesses can be fixed, he just needs to work hard... I think putting him kuni and geno together will balance that line out...

I don't want Malone back, and im not on the bandwagon of bring briere in either... as of now, I don't see any buyout candidate fixing the problems the pens have...

wingers in drafts, resign some guys and if they have to trade letang and fluery then do so, if they keep fleury and letang then so be it...

also I duno if anyone answer my questions... if an rfa is not given a new contract when does he become a ufa.. December right? what does that mean with Jeffrey tk and burtuzzo?

hmmm...3-way under the radar deal? Not likely, but could work...

PITT: Bernier + 2nd rd (LA) + 2nd rd (CGY)
CGY: Fleury + Bortuzzo
LA: 22nd overall + TK

LA gets a decent 1st round pick and a player who will add some speed and scoring to their 2nd or 3rd line. CGY gets an established goalie at a relatively cheap trade-price and a young stay-at-home D. PITT moves on to a younger goalie who splits time learning from Vokoun and a couple of picks (maybe it's a 3rd from CGY), and cap relief.

I would also be interested in seeing PITT pursue Clowe, I think he would be a fantastic fit as somebody who is tough, big and can bang in goals from the crease area. Could look nice w/Crosby and Dupuis...he's not the fastest person though, but he'd be a nice piece that we don't have to give up assets to acquire. Otherwise, I'd really like to see Chris Stewart in a PENS uniform - not sure what it would cost though...

As for trading Letang...assuming he's not willing to sign for 6.25 or less, but will sign a 7-7.5+ elsewhere, I think good options could include COL, EDM, ANA. If he's signed COL may be willing to trade #1 overall (which PITT would deal to move down into the draft while getting a D replacement and powerforward along the way + picks), EDM could involve #7+Smid+ or Eberle+Smid, ANA would bring 1st+Ryan (although PITT is reportedly not so high on him).

no to COL trade.. they want a forward, I think the best bet is letang to nash, pit would get more... I still think there is a chance flower goes to edm for their pick +

two top 2 picks will help pit forward depth while clearing cap

I think trading Neal is backwards...what do you want in return, a young power forward?? lol...just keep Neal, he's young, fits in well, signed pretty cheaply for his talent level, etc etc...doesn't make any sense to trade him.

I would consider trading Kunitz though. He's UFA at season end, but is mid-30's soon and coming off a career season...his value will never be any higher and could bring back a really nice return, plus make room to sign a guy like Clowe...if Iggy is willing to play 3rd line+PP and take a discount, I think that would be great too...

Clowe - Crosby - Dupuis
Bennett - Malkin - Neal
Jokinen - Sutter - Iginla
Adams - Vitale - ??
Glass

Letang - Despres
Martin - Orpik
Niskanen - Engelland

Vokoun
Bernier

* Assuming the Bernier deal I stated previously.

I haven't done the cap numbers but it should be very close...

Not sure about wanting a forward...that's speculation...they NEED a D-man - but one who can play top-level now, which is why they are seemingly shying away from Jones. Letang would be an enormous piece of their puzzle...

I still say go after edm and nash.. they will give more..

but I like ur thought on getting the top pick then trading down, might be able to get a 1st and second from someone.... and get more things out of a trade... but all in all I ll be happy either way, if he stays or goes... whats better for this team

I agree on EDM, but I don't see the fit in NSH. They have a great goalie (so not interested in Fleury) and their D isn't lacking top-line talent (so no need for Letang). I would imagine they would have interest in Kunitz and TK, but I doubt that would get #4 (unless we slip something into Poile's drink!). It could return one of their younger stay-at-home D-men and maybe Hornqvist...

the more and more I think about it, I think iggy is going to resign for cheap... he has been in cal for ever and this is the first time he moved and played on a new team, while in regular season he contributed, during playoffs we all know he was not used correctly.. I doubt he will want to move again and I think he will stay in pitt until he retires.. im saying 3mil/2 yrs...

I was thinking the same, but he has stated that he wants his role to be clarified before he signs - which is a direct consequence of Bylsma not knowing how to use him best...

Honestly, I would rather keep Martin to teach the younger guys than Letang. He's more rounded. Plus, the return for trading him I don't feel will compensate for his loss to the team (other than salary cap). Between Letang and Martin, I think the smart move is to deal Letang. The return will be substantial, including a decent replacement D, maybe a young forward and draft picks (possibly very high ones)...AND you get cap space...
