kudos then... I thought it good at the time because I thought he would bring a leadership presense like guerin did... the iginla deal made the morrow trade look foolish in retrospect... but until the iginla deal I thought it was a good deal at the time... trade a prospect that the team had soured on for a decent player and to go up a couple rounds in the draft. hindsight is the best sight

I just didn't see trading one of our best d prospects for a guy who was a fourth liner and at times scratched on the stars as their captain. If they wanted to trade joe morrow they could have got more from a different team.

I hear you Chris. I'd also would love to re-sign Iggy for less than $2M. I think he still can give us some top 6 play. Points wise he produced what I was expecting. I was only disappointed with his physical play to be honest. I thought we were getting a hard checker..he's not that kind of guy.
- Orpik44

He would get more than 2 million per year. You need to stop this.

When you consider his age; who is coaching this franchise and his declining play along with his lack of leadership displayed in Pittsburgh following the trade deadline, he isn't a good fit here. People have a rough time coming to grips that the Iggy experiment in Pittsburgh needs to end. Those who want it to continue I shake my head at.

OK ... In hindsight, the deal wasn't good. However, if Joe Morrow was ranked in the eyes of our management or scouts in the top three of our D prospects, do you think Shero pulls the trigger on sending him to Dallas? I don't. Morrow obviously slipped behind Mattaa, Harrington, Pouliott and could have slipped behind Domoullin as well. I don't think he was as high on the board as people think. He obviously slipped quite far down the board.

I guess the thought was he might be reinvigerated playing for the cup again and I doubt the pens would have trade Morrow if they though he had a future in Pittsburgh. I believe they soured on him being top 2 and they have a great stock of potential 3-6 d-men in their cupboard. But, like you said, it was a bad deal... or maybe, jusst maybe, Shero was throwing Joey a bone after the beating he laid on him in the neal trade.

Even if he wasn't as high on the penguins board that doesn't mean that he isn't still very valuable. Other teams could have thought joe morrow would have been their best d prospect which would have brought a bigger return. The fact the penguins have numerous other highly touted d prospects doesn't deplete his value.

I'm glad you guys are having fun tonight in the board. I'm stuck in an airport. The airplane I was on is "broken" and now I'll have to wait for 3 F'N'HOURS to catch a new plane to go home.

Dman right! I want Lemuiex out of retirement and playing like he's in his 20's!
I want Tom Barrasso to come out of retirement to be the goalie coach and not be a complete wiener!
I want rob scudari to come back for peanuts and bring his twin brother with him!
I want hockey games to be called the same way all season and through the playoffs!
THATS WHAT I WANT!!!!!!!!!

Thanks man. Here in Brazil is already 23:55 pm. Considering my luck, I might get home 4 am. You all should go to sleep. Work tomorrow. I only have to worry about studying tom orrow and for the next few months.

true... but I do trust Mr. Shero and his assessment of talant and I don't think he trades Morrow unless he was pretty sure that he wouldn't develop here in pittsburgh... maybe he thought he would get lost in the shuffle... people have this idea that our top d in a few years is going to be maata, harrington, despres, pouliot, doumalin. That is unrealistic and would be foolish. always a couple or more of the d need to be veteran and middle aged d-men with experiance. Morrow, IMO, just got edged out

The good is that we did get a 3rd round pick back with that morrow deal. I really thought he was going to be that billy g type player with Crosby or Malkin. I really loved his attitude on the ice and getting in people's faces when he needed to, but unfortunately another team will over pay for him. He wasn't what we expected, but I did like him better than iginla

As i said before, Orpik I think is a necessity for these kids especially for our shutdown prospects (Harrington and maatta). Orpik isn't afraid to speak his mind and is a very intelligent defenseman and leader both on and off the ice. If Martin continues his improved play next year, I would love to see those 2 stay and help the kids develop for the next 4-5 years
