I think Hartnell might be the last of that group you mentioned (that started with Forsberg, actually) that lives in the city (the Old City section, I think).

Nevermind, it was Lupul that lived next door to Eager.... but I could swear there was a vid where Lupul just hopped on the elevator and had dinner at Hartnell's...

I always remember Danny opening up his first season w/the Flyers and scoring some big goals on that West Coast trip to start the year. A break away goal in Edmonton comes to mind. He was a huge part of that "worst to first" season.

I remember that segment. It was a "cribs" version of Flyers w/Hartnell. He was still married and he and his wife were making a pre-game meal for Hartnell & Lupul. I think Lupul was playing Deer Hunter video game. Sick pad.

I wonder if the Flyers brought in Adam Hall last season to help Hartnell find his next wife?

(assuming people know the story of how he met his 1st wife)

I remember that one. They went next door to Eager's, and Eager just stood in the doorway and wouldn't let them in. I just remember immediately thinking, "HE'S GOT A FAT GIRL IN THERE!"

Lupul, Hartnell, Eager, Upshall, Coburn, and Carter all lived in the block between Market and Arch between Front and 2nd. Lupul, Eager, and Hartnell in the same building. I think Richie was an honorary member, with a room at Lup's so he didn't have to drive home drunk to NJ. Harts does still live there and had that Christmas dinner thing on 24/7 with Braydon Schenn, Giroux, and I can't remember who else, taking them across the street to go to the Children's service at Christ Church, which has become a bit of a tradition. (Richie, Carter, and Hartnell and their families showed up the first year they all lived there).

The only one I ever saw around was Upshall.

Classic.

Miller didn't react at all...he was still in shock.

Lucic "trying to avoid" Miller the same way Neal "tried to avoid" Couturier.

I will never understand how Lucic wasn't disciplined for that hit.

If that were Zac Rinaldo hitting Miller, they would have buried Rinaldo under the jail.

I can't understand how Tim Thomas wasn't run by Gaustad. Thomas even said after the game (paraphrasing), "I kept waiting for them to run me and it never happened."

Definitely the right decision given his cap hit and the salary cap, but none the less, I am sad about it.

Personality and leadership aside, I'm not going to miss Briere as much as I did Gagne. Briere was a streaky scorer. The fact he performs so well in the playoffs and not in the season is indication he doesn't give 100% all the time. He was also worse then poor on defense. When playing center, you have to have at least decent defense. I think his struggles when on wing had more to do with just not being happy there then his ability to perform. He also took the worst penalities at the worst times. Too many tripping penalities for a guy with his speed, and way too many retalitory penalities. And I have to admit, there is resentment that a player making that much money, performing average for his contract at times, handcuffed the team because he would never accept a trade if asked.

I know people are sad, and I am a little too. Its not like saying goodbye to Shelly, but its not like saying goodbye to Gagne or LeClair either. I think right now there is some "revisionist" history going on.

Good point.
I'd personally like to stay with Timonen. We could listen to Scandinavian metal all day , plus I'd be taller than him. I don't know that 2nd part has to do with anything, but it probably counts somehow.

Yup, throw in some In Flames, Meshhugah (sp?), Soilwork or Bodom and its a good day
