seems bogus

well I am sure there were tons of Rangers fans looking for tickets as well being so close. Probably more Rangers fans than Devils fans there

I would agree...But I could see the Wild having legit interest.

makes sense with backstrom's contract situation, but i would prefer not over pay in a bidding war to calling a potential bluff and try the offer sheet route if it comes to that. under no circumstances do i want to part with the 11th pick, matt read alone should be enough, i would be hesitant to even add a 2nd round pick in addition to read (especially in this draft class).

I'd tell Lombardi to pound sand if he wanted more than Read...and I'm not a fan of trading Read to get him in the first place.

it would hurt to lose read for sure, but i think it would be a fair, hockey trade to trade read for bernier straight up

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I don't believe the Flyers signed Briere to match up against the likes of Crosby head to head. They needed scoring and they wanted to sign the best point producer available. Anytime you sign the best offensive player on the market, you are going to overpay. They were fine with that. Sometimes you need to overpay.

I think your expectations were far too great.

- PhillySportsGuy

I agree with you.. And I agree in hindsight my expectations were probably too high( although I will go to my grave believing briere moving to wing was the stupidiest thing ever) but I would like to see us stop overpaying sooo much because (we need)

I'm hoping that the Kings using the Flyers as a smokescreen to get someone else to up the ante.

Toronto sites are saying that the leafs are already offering their 1st round pick #20, plus 2 prospects

First you have Season Ticket holders that get them. They you have Islanders, Rangers, and Flyers fans posting. The fact that 3 of us won just shows you there were many more of us entering.

I've always found it funny that we have distinctions such as african-american even though many african-americans have been here longer than most "White Americans." No one calls me a Polish American. My family has only been here since the 20's
- PhillySportsGuy

I am annoyed when called Irish American. We've been here since 1683.

I was annoyed when I said the Flyers had a black goalie at work (emery) and they said I should say African America. I said he is Canadien, and if you make a stink about it I will sue.

You would think so. The most I would offer is Read and a 3rd. If that's not good enough, Lombardi can take a hike.

50 years ago, if you called someone 'black' it was derogatory. That's why many older people hate using the term. It's actually quite insulting in its simplicity. It is accepted now, so there shouldn't be a problem.

Any chance of him coming back after a season away?

Loved his final OT goal against Carolina. He'll be missed
