Didn't the play Fleury for the first 4 games of the playoffs? I'm talking about having one goalie for the regular season, and one for the playoffs.

not to my knowledge... but thats not what I was suggesting... if flower is playing well at the deadline the pens should stick with him into the playoffs... but knowing that vokoun is a capable backup. if he's not playing well... explore other options at goal... people are talking about flowers value being low, but he is still a relatively young cup winning goalie with a not so terrible contract... a team in need of a goalie would be willing to gamble on that IMO |

87-88 Jersey Devils. They had Bob Sauve or Alain Chevrier (can't remember which) most of the season and inserted Sean Burke when he came off of the Olympics. I know this is ancient history, but Burke helped take Jersey which had never been to the playoffs* before all the way to the conference finals.
*the franchise had been to the playoffs as the Colorado Rockies (i think)

I think early in Osgood's career, he was the number one during the season, but they put Vernon in for the playoffs. |

Murray's not that stupid. No one is. Gibby is ours, Sbisa and Ryan can be dealt, but it should be for Letang and a prospect or pick. Letang is pretty much a rental at this point. What you said is a terrible overpayment. |

Agreed. Personally I'd love to get Gibson from you but he seems to be untradeable. B.Ryan/L.Sbisa for K.Letang and a low prospect sounds good to me. |

Nashville is rebuilding. They should never be considered on a deal for Letang. They just traded for Forsberg, will draft Barkov with their #4. They are a team in need of offense and this trade would make little sense to them. |

As Gunner said, I'm going through the stages of grief, it's sad that my two favorite players will be gone within 18 months of each other.
As Gunner has said to me before, don't pick Sid or Geno as my new favorite players!
One thing with MAF is they are not going to want to buy him out, a number one draft pick who is 28 cannot be washed by the buy out, the team needs something back for him.
Who is going to pick up the $5M tab on a goalie who has lost belief in his fundamentals?
We could see him back purely because of that reason, if that's the case it will be a 55-27 split between Vokoun and MAF, with #29 as the back up.

I watched hartzell play in the frozen four tourney and championship game.. while they got crushed it was for lack of defense, he made some great saves and his rebound control was imo a lot better then some nhl goalies...
I hope he resigns with us and gets a shot in wb/s or even as vokuns backup..
I think flower is gone for the right price.. - nh4442
You should take pucks as compensation and be happy you got something he is brutal. The right price is whoever would give you anything! |

Well...Gunner_ Staal is not the luckiest guy either
Yeah, nobody would pick up this $5M tab right now and buying him out wouldn't be a very good option. Let's give him another chance. |

Unless MAF miraculously turns it around, I see him as back up next year and Vokoun up front carrying the torch. MAF 5 million salary makes him untradeable. |
