It doesn't matter who's fault it was. I'm just saying using a goalies stats who came in when games were already over and played 52 minutes probably isn't the best way to go.
- canadianpenfan

He only faced 15 total shots. I certainly wouldn't tout stats based on that though I thought he looked positionally sound and calm in those games, save for the one terrible goal he gave up 5 minutes into his first relief appearance.

I thought that was implied.

Hint: You're the only won who "scored" that night.

He also has no pressure on him what so ever. The game was out of hand and when he came in the Islanders Defense decided to play

Well...coming in cold to a playoff game in a packed and hostile building...I don't know if I'd say that's "no pressure whatsoever," but I agree you can't really draw hard conclusions from it...other than at least he didn't completely bomb.

everyone is focused on bernier (for obvious reasons) but how about speaking to the ducks about Jonas Hiller AND bobby ryan...

they seem like they could be nice dance partners considering they are right at the ceiling and could use some relief... id propose something along the lines of

nino + 1st+ poulin + 2nd tier prospect (dehaan/lee...)

for

Hiller + Ryan

we kill 2 birds with one stone...get a goalie and a top line forward:
bobby ryan is slotted into the top line forward spot nice to JT, hiller is old enough and proven that he can play a solid goal & isnt too young to kill nilsons value.

then they gotta get a top 4 dman, obviously much easier said then done...but all of a sudden the isles are a top 5 eastern conference team if garth can get those 2 out of Anaheim...

i know NY178 loves nilson and ive never seen him play so i cant say one way or another. but i wonder how much faith management has in him (and the other 2) considering garth already said they plan on drafting a goalie...i could be nothing, but it makes me wonder...

- LetsGoIsles

garth can draft a goalie but that player wouldn't sniff bport for two years..so i don't think that has much bearing. look i love Nilsson (well established) but i'd sign up for Hiller in a heartbeat

I'm not that huge on Hiller. He's a good big goaltender but not real mobile. He's all about positioning. With a team like Anaheim that's a bit more effective than with a less than phsyical defense like the Isles. I'm also not sure what he'll command though the market is seemingly flooded enough with mid grade goalies that it may actually be lower than perceived. I certainly have no problem with a 3-5 year deal at an affordable price.

I stayed with it for a while. Pissed off some people with it X style. Had my fun, it served its purpose . Now I see why he took such great joy in it

Take the bet Dee. Nino IS being moved. The regular clowns on this board give you a lot less credit than you deserve.
- 31fan

Agreed! Nino will be moved, book it. Also Dee I do not know how you manage to keep blogging with some of the nimrods that call themselves Isles supporters and they know who they are. Keep up the good work. The fact is she may not be a Bill Meltzer or John Jaeckel but she takes the time and makes a good effort. Some blogs are good and some are so so but the point is she is doing a decent job and you can't please everyone, ask Eklund

Mike Smith would be a nice additon at the right price. Nabby and Poulin could get it done as well and you already have them, sort of.

Poulin .933 and 1.14 GAA in playoffs. Small Sample set but im just saying

Im with all of you. POULIN has looked Shakey but there is times he has looked brilliant.

Even Patrick Roy said he was best Goalie Prospect in OHL. Lets not forget he got hurt last year.

Has anyone here really seen Bernier play that many times that we actualy know how good he will be.

With Ullstrom Leaving, Maybe its better we just get Nino and they fork over the some Dough and sign SMITH.

- Spartiarti

How many of those other OHL prospects are in the NHL now?

He played the QMJHL, actually, not OHL, but Roy's quote at the time was that he was the best in Canadian junior hockey.
