My one thing is this.

The stars, or most of the (hopefully) future stars on this team, arent exactly really physical players.

Its why I dont like bringing in Ryan. I tend to believe that forward core is too soft as it is, and filled with too many players who have sub-par or average at best defensive games. Dont want Ryan for those reasons. I have a real feeling a team like Boston or LA would expose a forward core like this anyway, working them along the boards and pouncing on careless plays.

Schenn is physical, Simmonds is physical, Giroux certainly doesn't shy away from throwing his weight around. I'd hope once Couts fills out more he will muscle his way to the net more; he's got a long reach, good hands, a great stick, stake him in front of the net. Couts definitely isn't "physical" so far but he has size certainly.

How many people has Kimmo injured with his slap shot? I was just considering it and I think I've seen him injure players with his slap shot more than anyone else has with their slap shot.

But I don't see how it circumvents the cap more than already allowed. If you just continue with those same numbers, say Briere signs for 3 years at 2 million per. The cap dollars and actual dollars will still have an 8 million dollar difference. 53M and 45M respectively. I mean maybe its just the NHL saying you can't have your cake and eat it too, but I don't see why the fuss. And in a case like Briere, he has kids which are rooted in the area yada yada. Just hope he finds a good home in the division, doesn't make the playoffs, and keeps up his sub par defensive play

The Flyers certainly could use at least one more physical forward. But they just need to play tougher as a team. They have plenty of players who can do that. Hopefully, there will be some systemic changes made. We'll see. The blueprint for how to play in on display right now. Except for last night's game!

Yes it is circumventing regardless. That's the whole point. It is circumventing more, because Briere has two more years at 6.5 before the buyout. So now they get the 8M Cap savings that doesn't have to be repaid. Plus they get to keep the player at a reduced Cap hit. The Flyers make out on both ends. It's no the same. I can't explain it any clearer.

Couturier has to fill out. But you don't do what he has done on the ice, in the role he plays in, if you're soft as a player. He is the direct opposite of soft. He plays against much bigger players a lot of the time. And wins a lot of battles.

Our definitions of what's considered touch has to be completely different then. I don't ever expect him to become Keith Primeau, who was touch in ever sense of the word but I do fully expect him to become Rod Brind'Amour.
