Briere was gone no matter what, so no harm in announcing it so Briere can get a decent farewell before July 1.

Bryz depends on a lot on what goalies are available to replace him -- if the options don't look good, he's probably sticking around for another year at least.

Main reason why Streit got 5.25 for 4 IMO. That contract is worse than Streits.

People have called me crazy, but I was calling for him to get the buy-out since the Devils series last year. I wish I could go back and quote the people who say you dont buy-out the best playoff scorer just because he doesnt score consistantly during the season....

Personally I think Bryz isn't going to get bought out until they have a better idea of who they'd bring in to replace him. I don't think his buyout is set in stone, I'd say it's a 50/50 at this point.

Youarewrong, I was under the impression that many believed a CBO for Danny B was almost a given when they announced that you get 2 CBO's to be used by 2014 season.

Nah. I was calling it before the playoffs were over, right after we got eliminated. Kept talking about Giroux contract and buying out Briere. People called me crazy as usual.

Briere wouldn't get bought out if the cap doesn't get artificially reduced to $64M for next season. Otherwise, nice serendipitous call.
