This one suggested in an RC thread about a week ago by someone listed as a Leafs fan, but I couldnt just take his word for it. The deal was:

7th ovr for Gunnarsson, Kulemin, and 21st ovr

I dont know if its enough from EDM as I havent a clue as to where either player stands in the Leafs organiztion, but is it close?

I thought so too, but Sakic doesn't strike me as a bluffer, and Roy watched Makinnin and Drouin all year, and he has imput. Sakic might have said what he did so they wern't lambasted at the draft, and they can begin putting out fires now
- gojets

if i was sakic i would take barkov 1st. when you look at comparisons and want to try and figure out who will be the best player in the long run, barkov has already shown that he can play with men and dominate them. if he gets bigger it just means he gets that much better at dominating them. say mackinnon adds another 15lbs (would need to add 24lbs to get to barkov's size), this could potentially slow him down and he would need to adjust to being bigger. Crosby was 193lbs when he was drafted, and has only added 7lbs since then, not a big difference, whereas mackinnon would need to add the 15lbs to get to crosby's weight.

yea, people will probably think this is stupid, but its true. just look at what happened with luke schenn. he added weight, and got slower. same happened with reimer, he added weight, got slower and had a bad season. this year he lost weight during the offseason and played that much better.

Gunnarson is an RFA. Who is replaceable. Kulemin is loved by most (including me) and seen as our best defensive winger and the hope is always there that he will chip in offensively....that said, I do the deal if I'm the Leafs.

yea but look how many years it took him to finally make the nhl. barkov easily is the most ready to step in right now and make an impact

3 years isn't a lot of time. Rielly will need about 3 years as well

If they bring in Mackinnon, Stastny will have to be traded. By next trade deadline for sure; probably sooner. Does our first do it? Would we have to add Blacker/Finn/Percy? Surely Nonis prefers Stastny over Weiss. At least I hope he does....

They could also start Mackinnon on the wing and see if statsny raises his value

Thank you sir. I really hope they win too. Because that means the Leafs were one goal away from winning the Stanley Cup, right??

Fared better than anyone against Boston thus far. Maybe the Toronto series is what teams look back to for relevant video

Hell yes when his perceived value (at least on here) is at it's highest. Better return.

Bernier is an RFA you could offer sheet him

Over $1,682,194 to $3,364,391 - 2nd round pick
Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 - 1st round pick, 3rd

so the price can't be that high..I guess a 1st and 3rd is decent...but if it was say #21 and a 3rd...not bad

- senstroll

If you offer sheet Bernier, you're taking a gamble that he will not be traded before free agency opens on July 5. Given the number of teams involved, that is highly unlikely.
