So.... Do we offer Briere a contract? I for one think for a reasonable price he would still be serviceable as a #2 center. |

No, he was played too often and for too many minutes.....that was another RC error. - Fakepartofme
That is true, but we have too many average defenders, not enough good key ones like phaneuf, gardiner, franson. Fraser was the only above average defender who played his game really well which he is good enough to remain on the 3rd line pairing. So we have a decent 4/6. Technically we don't need kostka, when we have blacker who i really think should be given a chance since its been forever now, since he is a right handed defender and would fit nice on the 3rd pairing. Gardiner and franson showed some positives when played together in the playoffs, was not that bad of a pairing. While phaneuf still needs a top pairing guy with him. Gunner is not the man for the job, which is why i would use him as tradebait for a guy like stastny to fix our #1 center problem, letting bozak go |

Yeah, for sure! Are you based in Edmonton then?
My wife also refused to work up north; with her dual engineering/business degree she would have been able to write her own ticket. Instead we'll move back to Ontario, then she'll do her MBA and we'll spend the next 30 years throwing paper planes made out of hundies at each other - lumlums
no doubt.
I'm in southern Alberta. Medicine Hat. Definitely not as much money, but housing is pretty cheap here compared to the rest of Alberta. Nice city to. Moved here from the east coast about 8 years ago, and wouldn't even think of going back. |

small criticism- Bozak without Kessel leads to more goals per 20 because Bozak without Kessel is usually playing the PK... unless that number is strictly even strength(he only mentions even strength in the production graph, not in the goals for/ goals prevented graph)
I also think faceoffs are being undervalued here. - Feeling Glucky?
Really, the only thing he does well.
But hey, steckel was good at face offs....let get him and put him on the top line! |

We have too many average players period.
But Blacker hasnt played more than 3 consecutive NHL games, so as of now.....I wouldnt say he could replace anyone. |

That's not correct either.
He played very well in several games with the leafs.
Its just that his mistakes were overly criticized.
But for his first season in the NHL....he played well. - Fakepartofme

2 things...
1- I'm not arguing Bozak is a top line center, or that the Leafs should keep him... he's a 2nd/3rd line center, who would be nice to keep under 4 mil.
2- You can't seriously compare Steckel to Bozak. |

he played well at the beginning of the season, when other NHL players were still getting up to speed.
Once they did, he was awful.
Legitimately awful. |

So other than Phaneuf, Gardiner, Franson and Fraser, we have too many average defensemen?
If they can add someone to play with Dion and/or reduce minutes for Dion they will be in good shape.
Leafs G/A went from 15th to 8th last year. They are on the right track |

don't drop 1sts on goalies. Too unpredictable.
Take a big swing on a forward- preferably a center, and hope it pays off. |

Yeah but if you do not give the guy a chance, how do you know how we will play? Everytime i saw him play those preseason exhibition games, he played pretty good, always wondered why he was never given a chance. You got to give some of our young guns a chance to prove themselves |
