Just in case people are missing my point, here it is:

Liles is not an asset.

The best you could hope for is that you could give him away for free.

He's a very strong candidate for a compliance buyout.

Please do not include him in any trade proposals.

- Atomic Wedgie

And to think - when the Leafs acquired Liles I thought he would be a solid pickup...though hes not terrible, he hasnt been very good either.

I honestly wonder with some of these guys if they just wake up one day and no longer want to play hockey.

He made some pretty good money. He may have managed it well.

Not that I know from personal experience, but I'm imagining playing in the pros could be a real grind. And I imagine the bumps, bruises and nagging pains could really start to add up.

It wouldn't be hard for a guy like Connolly to just lose interest. Faced with working your arse off all summer and hoping to catch on with a bad team to be a depth player, or hanging them up and sleeping in every day at the cottage, the latter choice might seem awful tempting.

- Atomic Wedgie

I think he was a second choice, low risk signing that was the booby prize after Brad Richards signed with New York.

He didn't work out, I think the game has gotten too fast for him , and he apparently has this bad attitude ( we are not in the dressing room so not sure how true that is-Ryan Miller liked the guy).

Interesting that had we won the Richards sweepstakes we would be regretting that now far more than Connolly. We actually got lucky.

To be honest I think the Avs are the only ones who WOULD take him. They know him, and they're absolutely starving for D. It would be the same as including a 7th, but I think that he could be sent there.

As you say though, he really doesn't have much value at all.

I will however include him in any trade proposal that I want.

This was carpenter school.

They make you draw all of your prints by hand, for every one of your projects in shop, and project plans in class. I've had to do full 10 page working sets of prints by hand, borders, title boxes.. Everything. There were definitely some all nighters towards the end of each year.

I'm not very proficient with auto cad, the wife has her drafting / design. Not gonna lie, she drew a few of those prints for me on wing nights.

Good wife.

nice. yeah when dad did his house the builder was upset because dad wanted to change from the original design he had on print.

i said... i'll do it.

2 hours later i have drafted the entire house, changed the roof from one peak to 4.. played with the pitches.. added extensions so that when they built patios they would be covered and designed a garage

the builder just sat there in my office with this dumfounded look on his face.

so i gave him my card

I'd happily take Richards after he get bought out. He's still a good player, but I just think that the NYR/Torts system doesn't suit him. If he does stay with NYR, I think he'll do much better under Vigneault's system

Yeah, you think you are acquiring a guy that can help, and he is just OK. He was good before his concussion but has not been the same since.

On the other hand, you acquire a guy like Fraser for the Marlies and he ends up leading the Leafs in plus/minus.

Sometimes you have to be lucky.

Agreed, without the weight of that contract, he would be an interesting option on a 2 year deal

They're definitely useful people! With Mrs. Lums being an Engineer, there's always a use for her, especially as we set up our own scratch-brew set up!

Sometimes I get to help her out though, its not just a one way street

- lumlums

Holy poop, she's an engineer? You guys are the power couple. I could only imagine the student loans. Your first born will definitely be Stephen hawking.

I am but a carpenter, one handed right now to. The wife is easily the bread winner these days.

Yup, he'd be a great fit. Give him say 2-3m per year, and he'd tear it up. The nresign Bozak to play 3C

I thought he was an excellent pickup when we first got him - his speed allowed him to make up for his mistakes. I was loving his game.

And then he got the concussion. He just hasn't been the same.

Which kinda makes you wonder why we gave him the contract while his head was still spinning.

Thankfully no student loans

She worked during her undergrad (plus her parents paid tuition), then did a 16 month internship to get cash/experience and I worked in Fort Mac for just over a year to get rid of student loas/pay for the wedding/house deposit. I also get paid for teaching while I'm finishing up the PhD, so no loans here either. Basically, once you add in a good salary from my side, man we could even afford to live in Vancouver!

Hopefully that will be the point that we move back to Awesometario

I love it when the homeowner makes changes. The wife works for my company, so any changes are billed hourly. Her time, and the time for the staff to make the changes. While its all scripted and contracted, usually people get pretty picky after the first few changes when they see the bill. I can bill a cadd person at about 125 an hour for additional work. And she makes the crew look cheap.

A bad move by Burke for sure. Also wtf was he thinking giving Kulemin scorer's money when he clearly is a checker?

In all honesty, I'd still do this deal:

Kaberle for Komisarek.

Montreal saves $1 million on the compliance buyout, so they'll happily do it.

Buyout Liles.

Keep Kaberle and hope to God he can find a little bit of magic - I'm guessing the guy would kill to play in Toronto again for one year.

And then we still have one compliance buyout to play with next summer.

Cough Grabbo Cough.

If we sign Richards, we have no room for Bozak.

Unless you want to buy out Grabbo.
