So I posted this before, but it was during a pretty heated conversation and people ignored it. I think if any team in the top 10 trades down it will be New Jersey. Everyone knows they need to forfeit their pick next year, and it would not surprise me if a team picking 20+ offered up this year's 1st and next year's to gain the 9th pick. The year NJ selected Brodeur they traded down, maybe they do it again with Fucale. I know it seems kind of silly to suggest that a team would want to switch places with the Devils and not have a pick next year, but some of those teams have some pretty good prospect pools and could deal with the absence of a 2014 1st better than NJ.

I'm not too sure why people think he's available. The first thing Pittsburgh is going to try to do is get him some help - probably a high-end stay-at-home type.
Letang isn't a great defender in his own end, but removing him doesn't help them, either.

It takes away one of their biggest offensive threats.
Letang specializes in moving the puck out of D-Zone and into the oppositions zone. Removing Letang's elite transition game would force more pressure on Crosby and Malkin to move the puck. Not to mention the Power Play would take a huge hit.
I honestly think they'll try to do what we think Toronto will do, try and sign one of Scudari, Hainsey or trade for former penguin Michalek, or Robidas.
Honestly, I hope the Leafs can get two of them and bring in Paul Ranger with Fraser on the Buttom pairing.

To me, that's a perfect D for us. 4 guys of various degrees of pucking moving ability
(one of whom [Robidas] is capable of playing steady physical D while being effect on the PP), 2 true shutdown guys, and Ranger/Blacker as a wild card Two-Way defenseman.

A poster mentioned it would take Scrivens+Frattin to get Bernier.
I really hate to see Frattin go but Bernier has great potential and as much as Reimer improved, at the end of the day does this deal improve the leafs? I certainly think it does.I see Frattin as a top 6 player and our wings are a position of strength with possibilities of adding a Clarkson or MacArthur, or even promoting a marlie, we either won't have room for him or we can replace him for now.It was tough to see Luke Schenn leave last year but you gotta give to receive and so far that had turned out alright. The leafs haven't had a young stud goalie of Bernier's caliber since Felix Potvin (not mentioning Rask because he wasn't in the nhl when traded). We could solitify our goaltending for years to come. Frattin was a fourth rounder and Scrivens was a ufa signing. We bought low and are selling high.

I think the Bernier rumors to the Leafs is a rouse, it makes no sense for them to be in on bernier. New Leafs prez doing the kings a favor and driving up the price? That's the only thing that would make sense here.

So either Nonis pays top dollar for Bernier and has two young, somewhat unproven goalies, or pays bottom dollar for Luongo and has a proven goalie who can teach the other to be even better....but for ten years.

when I was still in school and I considered doing my masters I thought - (frank) that. NOW, you almost need a masters to be ahead of the millions of BA's etc out there
