#8 - Lindholm
#11 - Ristolainen/Shinkaruk
#14 - Pulock
#16 - Wennberg/Mantha
#19 - Lazar/Mantha

Looks pretty incredible

- LetsGoBuffalo75

wait how did u get our pick?

edit: Oh Miller + 2nd for #11...

i like Miller but dont see him fitting in with us b/c of cap hit. If you take 3-4M of his salary then we'll make it a deal...

Sure would
And I'd also be interested to see if CBus would give us 14 & 19 for Vanek?
They seem to really wanna go after it
And Vanek could really help out a kid like Johansson who has struggled a bit, but has incredible upside

Jarmo builds through the draft. It has been and will always be his MO.

Although I have made proposals trying to get those picks, Columbus would be stupid to move them.

Hackett might be a starter he might be a backup.

Larsson has the tools to play on the second line but will probably fit into the Hecht type mold.

The draft picks were the bounty IMO.

Both players are nice but they moved a consistent 60 point player that plays the pp, pk, sound in all three zones, and your captain for 4 hopefuls.

- dadeadhead

sound in all three zones? Not even close. The guy was a turnover machine. Everytime he got the puck either get knocked off , or his passes were always off. I.can remember at least 20 times where he gave the puck away and other team scored. Nobody noticed because he was scoring alot.

Pominville is one of the more complete players in this league.

He was 16th on the team with 11 giveaways this past season.

Yea maybe instead of the second rounder buffalo would take bryz and buy him out so you only have to use 1 buy out.

8- Nichushckin
11- Zadorov/ Shinkaruk/ Risto
14- Risto/ Pulock
16- Fucale/ Morin
19- Erne/ Mantha

That looks incredible to me, just my opinion.

- Djtyczy

It would be, but there's pretty much no chance whatsoever that Nichushkin falls to us.

MacKinnon
Jones
Drouin
Barkov
Nichushkins
Monahan
Lindholm

Is how I have it.

IMO they should move back from 8 because another team will want Nurse or Shinkaruk. Trade with Dallas for the 10 and 29/30 as I feel they want Shinkaruk and take Ristolainen at 10. I feel the majority of fans would be happy to get Ristolainen at 10, Lazar at 16, and hope Rychel is still there at 29/30.

I don't think EDM goes C. Yet ANOTHER scorer won't do any good for them. They need a shut-down D man, Fistric can't do it all by himself. I see EDM getting Nurse and leaving us with Lindholm. I'd personally be pissed if Risto was our highest pick in a draft class as great as this one. I understand it's "deep", (though I beg to differ) but gathering picks in the late teens won't do much good for this team. We might as well have finished 9th if we wanted picks like that.

I don't see Edmonton as the team picking at 7.

I think the Sabres will absolutely take some of Miller's and/or Vanek's salaries to facilitate a trade. Pegula isn't afraid to spend money.

I think the majority of fans would cry in their Cheerios if that was what we did. People want to move up not move down.

Assuming we stay at 8...
Hopefully Lindholm, if not and Nichuskin falls I'd take him, and if they're both gone...

Then the draft went pretty much the way u think (which would suck for us IMO)....
Then I'd absolutely make that trade with Dallas
Out of Nurse, Ristolainen or Shinkaruk...
I'd want Ristolainen...
And NJ is almost certainly taking a forward
So if I get the same player at 10 that I'd pick anyways at 8, then why not get that extra pick

And I like your idea of targeting Rychel late in the 1st
Even if we don't do that trade w Dallas,
We might be able to use our two 2nds to move up & snag him
I like Santini late in the 1st also

Agree
I know it's not my $$$,
But we've already set the precident by doing it w Pommer's contract
And we've also shown we're willing to take salary dumps in Kotalik and Pardy (even though he ended up being useful)

Darcy's made many mistakes
But he's made a lot of good moves also
This draft is CRITICAL to how we "rebuild"
He has many different ways he can go...
And he has a chance to change a lot of ppl's minds really quickly

I'm alright with both of those for the most part
I'm not particularly high on Wennberg, Lazar, Zadorov & Morin...
But I don't hate any of them either

And if we're gonna use one of our picks on Fucale,
If rather call LA & see if we can get Bernier for that pick
I know some don't like him,
But i think he's the best non-starter out there... And has a chance to be a top5 goalie
Plus, Goalies usually take a while to develop
I don't wanna wait 5yrs to see if Fucale can do it

If the first round is that loaded with talent why would we even consider trading up?? Keep the two top 20 picks and maybe get one more with Vanek/Miller trade. Chances are high that we end up with 1-2 studs
- Smittyx36

Absolutely. I don't think we should be unloading players and 1st round picks we already have just to get one guy, when this draft is allegedly one of the deepest in memory. Take the same trade bait and use it to get as many 1st rounders as possible this year.

Then, assuming we are going to flat-out suck this year, draft high next year and we got our rebuild: 4-5 1st round picks in 2 years; Enroth proves himself as #1; we get to see Grigo, Ziggy, Armia, Catenacci, Hackett, Larsson, Pysyk and others play for real and get them some experience; maybe one or 2 of this years' picks become starters...

Mortgaging the picks we have and half our stable of young 'uns just to get McKinnon scares the crap out of me in more ways than one...pressure on the kid, injuries, and it reeks of desperation, not patience. Neither Boston nor "hawks were built out of desperation.

Do we want an allstar player who is ready to play now or 3 2nd and 3rd line players who might be ready in 2 or 3 years? I am tired of 3rd line players....like apples falling off of trees.

He may not be afraid, but he is still a businessman. Darcy will not eat any of either contract. There will always be a buyer for a top flight winger and Goalie. Probably not in the offseason, most likely at the trade deadline when the market is more suitable.

In my scenario, we will have had 7 first-round picks in 3 years...I'd take a bet that ANY team can draft at least 2 very good 2nd line or first- line players out of all that, versus one guy. Maybe of those 7 picks we get 2 top-4 D men and 3 solid forwards. This draft is loaded in the 1st round, so the more picks the better. Girgo/Ziggy last year + high pick next year+4 firsts this year thrills me more than 1 "star" and not much else.

Depth along 4 lines is what wins. I know lots of folks talk about getting 1 superstar and "building around him", but I see teams with depth and quality on the whole roster being successful. We've had the "elite" goalie (gag)/ top-flight scorer to build around for years now, and can't get it done with Miller, Vanek and a bunch of scrubs.

Last year there was pretty much "no chance" grigorenko fell to us at 12. The russian factor is even bigger with nich. I think he falls
