That's interesting
First I've heard of that
Ya, there's no way Girgensons should be called up next year then...
Armia, Larsson & Catenacci should all be called up first
Hell, even Kea or whoever... If its just for a couple games, makes no sense to burn a year of his deal...
And it gives him more time to round out his game, and even work at center if that's where they see him eventually

- jdfitz77

Justin Kea has to play in Buffalo or CHL. Girgs has that option because he has no ties to the CHL(never played in the league).

First one seems more likely. Reinhart probably fits into their untouchable category.

He and Strome as far as prospects go.

Yea, but Darcy always wins the trade and I think he could get the Isles to overpay. Like pommers deal, I was happy when first reported we got Hackett and Larsson. Then we got 16th and a second on top, I was shocked.

Calvin De Haan is a name that I'd like to see coming back the other way. It's been rough going for him lately, but he's got loads of potential and could turn it around.

It wasn't really that big of a win. I mean the best asset in that deal is probably the 1st rounder. Larsson is project 3C and what's to say Hackett doesn't become a fringe #1 Goalie.

I get what you're saying about Darcy but there's just no way Reinhart is included in any deal with the sabres unless the names Armia/Grigorenko/Myers are involved.

IMO if they aren't all hard up on getting a 2013 1st for him and ok with getting a 2014 1st, you could see a 2013 2nd, 2014 1st, a prospect like Wilson, and another b-/c+ prospect.
- dadeadhead

Even with all the talk about this years draft, I would do that second deal you outlined. Having two first round picks is never bad.

I think 15th overall and nino. Or vanek and a 38 for 15 and reinhart.
- Djtyczy

Vanek (retaining half his cap salary/cap hit) plus a pick and prospect (Adam)might get the convo started for the 15th and Nino.

No way Vanek by himself gets the 15th and Nino, thats not how the Islanders do business.

Wow, I don't know about that comment.
I dislike Darcy as much as everyone else, but that return for Jason was tremendous. Larsson played very well in his time at Rochester with Girgensons, which is a great sign, and Hackett is NHL ready now, and a very good prospect.

Add in the 16th pick this year and that is quite a haul.

Not on knock on Darcy, I think it was a good deal for Pommer but that's all that it was. It shouldn't be treated like he fleeced the Wild or anything. From their P.O.V they got a top line two way forward and they didn't have to give up any of their best prospects.

Again, I like the deal but I don't agree that it was highway robbery.

Hackett might be a starter he might be a backup.

Larsson has the tools to play on the second line but will probably fit into the Hecht type mold.

The draft picks were the bounty IMO.

Both players are nice but they moved a consistent 60 point player that plays the pp, pk, sound in all three zones, and your captain for 4 hopefuls.

I am not saying he fleeced them, far from it, but he did get a ton, and he did not get low level prospects back either.

I bet the Wild really wished they didn't include Hackett when the playoffs rolled around and both their starters were out.

If Buffalo parlays the 16th this year into someone like Ristolainen, it will have been a huge return for Pominville.

To me, and this is very early to say of course, but Larsson and Girgensons have the makings of a 3rd line that win you a cup with how they play.

Can they get more for Miller or is that right about the limit of what they can expect in return?
- kingcong39

Depends how many teams really want him
There will be a few who kick the tires, but don't wanna give up what it'll cost
If we get two teams that really want him,
Then we could get a fantastic return
I think there's at least 10 teams that will inquire

I agree with everything here.

Just saying it was 4 hopefuls for a proven.

Reminded me sort of like the Doug Weight trade from Stl to Carolina in 05/06.

They aren't buying out Bryz.
- Pierceme69

They also weren't trading Carter or Richards...
I don't believe a thing their front office says
It's almost impossible for them to not buyout Bryzgalov and still fit in under the cap

I'd be surprised if he isn't bought out, very surprised

I read a lot of people who say Shinkaruk is a Parise clone.....if true I'll sign up. He also could be an Ennis clone, if thats teh case I'll pass. Only time will tell.

Would you take Nurse at 8? I really dont want a D there (16 is fine) but more and more mocks I see have us taking Nurse at 8.

- Homer

Shinkaruk is 3' taller then Ennis. So honestly if he is a ennis clone with more height i wouldn't at all be upset. Biggest weakness with ennis is his height.

IMO it comes down to Florida, NYI, Phoenix, and poss Philly.

He and Vanek IMO are the perfect fit for the NYI.

Vanek is also the perfect fit in Detroit.

Can you imagine Vanek in front of the net on that pp?

Buy out Danny 6.5
Pronger goes on LTIR to start the season.
Coburn moved for Ryan
I think Mezaros gets moved too
Buyout Bryz

The only team on that list that I would think he would jump at going to would be the Flyers, although if he was smart he would give the Islanders a strong look with their talent.

Vanek is perfect for Detroit. Ditto the Wild, if they had any cap room at all.

IMO they get a better deal by not demanding the 2013 1st.
