Extention would be for 14/15 and beyond so it has zero barring. - dadeadhead
Nice, so technically we could sign and trade and retain salary for Van and Miller. |

I like the idea of drafting Euros(with no CHL ties) and trying to convince them to come over and play in the AHL right away.
Also allows said players to play 2 years in the AHL(18-20) and have the entry level slide(like Girgensons)
http://capgeek.com/player/2332
As long as he plays no NHL games, his 3 yr deal essentially becomes a 5yr deal. This is why we will not see him up here next year unless he makes the team out of camp. - dadeadhead
That's interesting
First I've heard of that
Ya, there's no way Girgensons should be called up next year then...
Armia, Larsson & Catenacci should all be called up first
Hell, even Kea or whoever... If its just for a couple games, makes no sense to burn a year of his deal...
And it gives him more time to round out his game, and even work at center if that's where they see him eventually |

It's going to be very interesting where that center goes next year.
I highly doubt he gets the payday he thinks he will be getting. |

Wing.
He isn't much of a center anymore.
If and thats a big (frank)ing if Leino is healty, a line of Leino/CoHo/Briere could be very fun to watch. - dadeadhead
I agree, but does anyone believe Leino will be healthy? |

In a way yes.
It has to be written that it is for 2013/14 only then. |

Ottawa or Winnipeg. Or even St.Louis as sort of an Andy McDonald replacement.
4.5 per would be my guess. He and Ribeiro will get similar deals |

Miller and a 2nd for the 1st and Wilson.
Buffalo retains 50% salary/cap hit. Even though I', not a fan of that. - dadeadhead
Can they get more for Miller or is that right about the limit of what they can expect in return? |

And we gave up a top 20 NHL center for Ott - sbroads24
Roy was soft, and a locker-room cancer. In return, we got a tough and gritty leader who can still who can put up 40 points in a year. Brouwer is similar, but lacks the leadership and toughness that Ott has. Giving up an above average former Vezina winner and a guy who can pot 25 goals a year for Brouwer and a mediocre pick (23rd) would be a waste in my opinion. |

That's highly debatable, most non sabres fans wouldn't have him in their top 20.

Brouwer will wear a letter soon. He's just like Ott IMO without all the antics. It's not an ideal trade but with Bernier, Luongo and Mike Smith out there we have limited options for Miller |

That's 50%+ of Ott's game. It's pretty much impossible to be like Ott if the antics aren't included. If Ott was put in the same situation that Brouwer had this year, he'd do just as good, if not better. |

In any event, if Buffalo selects Nurse, I will have a conniption fit. We don't need a D man in the top 10 when it's this stacked with offense. Trading someone like Miller and a 2nd/3rd to Philly for #11 would be nice. Then, selecting Lindholm at 8, Ristolainen/Shinkaruk at 11, and a Wennberg/Erne (gamble) / Mantha at 16 would make for an incredible draft IMO. - LetsGoBuffalo75

Agreed on Barkov.
I think Lindholm will be there at 8 and truly hope Homer's source is incorrect about the Sabres not being interested.
I think they will need to move up from 16 to get Ristolainen as I believe he will be gone somewhere between 8 and 16. - kingcong39
Homer said that?!
Damn, he's pretty accurate usually...
I really like Lindholm... If he fell to 8 and we didn't pick him I'd be shocked... He's good enough to be top3 in most drafts
Hard for me to project where Ristolainen will go
I could see him as the 2nd D-man picked, or I could see Nurse, Zadorov & Pulock all taken ahead of him... And maybe even Morin bc of his size...
If CAR, CGY & EDM all go forward, and we go forward at 8...
Then one or more of that group will fall to 16
Philly is the only team between our picks that will def take a defenseman
And there's a few teams that will def go w a forward
I also would be surprise if we acquire another pick, or even two, ahead of 16 also
Damn, I want the draft to be here like tomorrow!

I think 15th overall and nino. Or vanek and a 38 for 15 and reinhart. |

Pysyk IMO has a ceiling of becoming a Teppo type guy.
Solid in his own end
Nice breakout pass
Will get you 30 points from the back end
Hardly ever make a bad play.
Will give you 20-22 mins a night - dadeadhead
That sounds about right to me too
Solid 2nd pair guy
And would seem to be a great for w a guy like McNabb that likes to hit & get caught out of position from time to time bc of it |

If Philly buys out Bryz, they'll need a goaltender WAY more than another scorer. Plus, getting rid of Coburn (big part of deal) would be an idiotic move. He's one of their main guys on their blueline. I'm sure they don't trust guys like Bourdon/Gustafsson to carry the load. - LetsGoBuffalo75
They aren't buying out Bryz. |

IMO if they aren't all hard up on getting a 2013 1st for him and ok with getting a 2014 1st, you could see a 2013 2nd, 2014 1st, a prospect like Wilson, and another b-/c+ prospect. |

Derek Roy is NOT top 20 center. He had great numbers as the #3 center behind drury and briere. When he plays vs the top line defense he is NOTHING |
