My random trade idea of the day:

Letang & Fleury to Florida

2nd overall pick, Gudbranson, Markstrom and a prospect

- cap1681

I don't see it.... Even if Letang signs there, Florida isn't moving Markstrom for a goalie that is only signed for 2 more years. Even if MAF was at the top of his game, he would be gone before Florida is a legit contender.

Florida would be nuts to do that. They are in the middle of a huge rebuild, and have the potential to draft a top end talent. Markstrom is poised to be their #1 next season, and Gudbranson is their top defensive prospect.

I seriously do not see Briere going to the Pens. If anything.. it will be one of the Rags, Isles, or Devils. He currently resides in New Jersey (about half hour, 45 minutes outside Philly), which is also about an hour and a half from NY/North Jersey.
- jak521

If he does indeed live there then your guess is probably accurate

That would surely be a blockbuster. I would be very, very tempted. Not that it would fly(probably wouldn't ever) but you never know. If not Gudbranson then Kulikov would be an interesting option too.

I could see the Isles for him. His playoff experience could be good for the room there too.

I personally think it will be the Islanders myself. Just seems like a good fit.

I'd be fine with either. Both young and bring different things. Gudbranson certainly more physical. Kulikov is a PP specialist. If a deal like that happened it would prove Florida's desperation and probably help them quite a bit but it would be trade rape.

Agreed, he could give them a spark kind of like he did when he arrived in Philly.

And by the way... a poster (a flyers poster) said yesterday that because his kids are in Philly schools, Briere doesnt want to uproot them. Thats not accurate at all.

He and his wife are amicably divorced and share custody of their boys. Danny is the primary caregiver, so leaving the general area would change that. He could still live in Haddonfield and commute to NYC.

Was Joe Nieuwendyk fired before or after that Morrow/Morrow swap? I don't recall. Shero owns his house and 2 of his kids I heard.

I think Nashville is going to be patient. They are likely going to draft Barkov and, with Forsberg, will have offensive firepower that they have long wanted.

Defense really isnt a big need for them.

It's something we've batted around in Flyers land for a bit: Briere's got kids in school around here (my friend's father actually teaches/taught a Briereling). It's a joint custody type arrangement, I believe, so moving from the area isn't a savory option for him.

Hence a buyout, rather than the Flyers looking to trade him for anything they can get (NMC says no).

I knew from day one you guys were going to win that trade hands down. I still get pissed thinking about it.
