If he doesn't stay, I would love to see Shero turn him into B.Ryan/Sbisa or Gibson.

E.Kane and L.Eriksson tops my list as well.

I would love to get Etem or Gibson in a deal but I just don't know how likely it is that the Ducks would send either of them. They're cheap and both have a long term future in Anaheim(projected). If it happened that'd be great. There'd either be a promising forward in the lineup along with Bennett or the goaltender of the future. Gibson would be a PR hit as well.

Why shouldn't Babe Ruth be pumped up?

I'm referring more to his beginnings in Baltimore.

I had to put B.Ryan on this deal for cap issues in Anaheim. I also would love to get Etem/Gibson but it's highly unlikely. Sbisa had a rough year so I guess he's easier to get than the two young guys you mentioned.

Spoke to a few GM's in last hour. Hearing lots of trade discussions going on today, much more active than expected.

I could see them doing Ryan and eyeing Etem as a possible replacement in the lineup.

Apparently PITT isn't so high on Ryan. He's more likely gone to PHILLY. Who knows for sure...

The more I think about this, the more a deal w/COL makes most sense of who has pieces PITT would like, and who would want to overpay for Letang...I can easily see a 1st overall for Letang deal, and PITT turns around to trade the pick to a team like DAL for Erikson + Dillon + 10th...

That would be a great return. This one is hard to happen.

If we are not too high on B.Ryan, I'd call Winnipeg. Actually, call them now Evander doesn't want to be there.

I doubt Letang would want to be there either, lol. That's why COL just makes sense. Roy + Sakic running the team, and with Letang they fill in a HUGE piece, could make them quite dangerous going forward.

DAL would pay that deal..Nils has already indicated they want to make some moves and rebuild. Why not start w/Mac? Cost would be steep, but you can't really build around Eriksson + Dillon + 10th overall...they may need to even add in another minor piece like a 2nd rnder or a prospect...

I think people need to realize, if Anaheim is trying to trade Hiller, its not going to move Gibson. Would love to get him, but the odds are slim.

If Dallas is looking to make some moves and do a rebuild, why in the hell would it trade Ericksson, Dillon and the 10th for Letang to begin with? And you seriously think they need to add?

Evander Kane is a great talent, but he is a very controversial person.

Who really wants to be in Winnipeg?

You need to read...Letang to COL for 1st, flip the 1st to DAL...

Your asking price for the first overall pick is ridiculous IMO - if its Eriksson, Dillon, the 11th pick and even an addition.

So, you think the first overall pick is worth Eriksson, Dillon, the 11th pick overall and a second round pick or another prospect? That is the way it reads.

If you are Nill, why the hell would you do that? Eriksson, Dillon should be centered in the rebuild, not traded away. I don't get this at all.

If you're going to rebuild, what better place to start than with a total stud C?

Erikson: very good player off of a so-so year, 27/28 yrs old, NOT a superstar.
Dillon: young, stay at home D. NOT a superstar
11th: say its 50-50 the pick even makes it to the NHL
2nd round/prospect: likely not to make an impact either.

It's about pieces to a team, versus the core of a team. DAL deal a few good pieces, but gets back a core guy.

I'm not sure you understand what you are saying. Ericksson is a 27 year old, 30-goal, 70-point guy; Dillon is their BEST young stay at home defenseman; the 11th pick in this draft is a premium pick and is more than 50-50 going to make it to the NHL at some point and you totally underestimate a second round pick. I think we can all make a list of hall of fame type players that were drafted in the second round. I'll start - some dude in Detroit named Pavel. Lidstrom was also a second round pick.

I'm all for maximizing any deal, but this is foolish to believe Nill should do that. What's to say MacKinnon is an automatic to make it big?

You DON'T do a total rebuild by trading away those assets for an 18 year old center who MIGHT do something. Utterly foolish move by Nill if he even considers such a thing.

I think you overestimate. Historically 11th overall isn't a star player. Period. Is it possible, sure, but not likely. Same for 2nd round. Look at the stats.

Dillon is a piece of a puzzle. He is a one dimensional D-man (although he's very good at it, so far). Erikson is good yes, but is he Stamkos? Kane? Crosby/Malkin? Ovi? Not even close...he's not even the best player on the team (Benn)!

Mac is unproven yes. However, look over the past few years at the #1 pick and take into account all the scouts/etc...is it possible he will suck? Sure. I doubt it though, as does nearly everybody else.

Simply stated. You can't build a team around Erikson. He's got 3-5 years left before he starts to decline. And you just can't build around a stay at home d-man...

He can only get the talent it's on the coach to get them playing.
