Actually, several analysts commented that they liked the Leafs depth on D in the playoffs though. It's really the top end that's more of an issue.

fraser does not belong in the NHL. Kostka does not belong playing the minutes he did

If the Leafs can't re-sign Bozak, can't find another centre, I can see Komisarek for Horcoff.

Both are problem contracts, but the other team would each have more of a use for those problems than the other. that said, three years left for Horcoff, one for Komi. Might take a sweetener.

Can Komi even play?

You're wrong, and have it totally backwards. Fraser was pretty good in a depth spot, Kostka was good for a while, then didn't belong in the NHL.

If you're asking whether he's healthy, the answer is yes. If you're asking if he's learned to play better to the point that he's a capable NHLer, the answer is no.

there's a reason fraser didn't play in the NHL this year. Kostka's an NHL D man. Just a bottom pairing guy, not top pairing

I'm telling you, as someone who watched him all year, he wasn't a liability at all as a third pairing guy. I think you'll find most Leaf fans want to keep him around as that.

Take a look at his icetime, and note that it increased as the year went on, didn't decrease. Kostka, the exact opposite. Kostka averaged 25 or 26 minutes the first month, while he was on a tear, and it dropped. Fraser averaged about 10 minutes the first month, and it climbed closer to 20 as the year went on.

I have to wonder with the two day delay if some action happens.

Not just us, there was lots of rumblings of guys doing a lot of talking yesterday after the meetings.

I just can't help but consider that there is some degree of blind hate for Horcoff. It's not without reason, but aside from his salary, the drop in play from where he once was in '06, the question marks about his captaincy and the fact that we are all just sick of him, he is still a pretty good 3rd line C in the NHL. We deal with a chunk of the cap hit, and there is value there, for alot of teams.
Hemsky is a bit different. We need him gone because he has a high cap hit, is injured an awful lot and is basically sick of us (or at least he sometimes plays like that), but more importantly because he is a top 6 RW behind 2 better ones. Again, there are plenty of teams that can use a top 6 RW.It doesn't make him cheaper, nor does it make him more durable, but that is a chance that someone is willing to take to see if he has some chemistry in the hopes of resigning at a lower price. More ideal risk at the trade deadline, but who knows.

We already have a young, offence only guy, and he's better. Keep gardiner.

He wouldnt be top 2 either. On the second pairing though.

Hes not what we need. Especially for what the leafs would ask.
