Wellwood wins faceoffs and has a reasonable understanding of offense. Hes a cheap stop gap that can manage 2nd line minutes while Nuge is out and he could probably be had around $1mill for 1 yr. Just adds depth to a team that really lacks such.

Thoresen was brought in before he was ready. Hes now in his prime, has been producing, and has apparently added an element of grit to his game. Again, hed be a cheap 1 yr tryout deal. Worst case scenario is he flops and we send to the AHL/ECHL.

Wellwood's got hands without a doubt. Brutal skater though. A huge step down from gags imo and not near the type of player that could excel on our 3rd either. I think there's much better options if we're looking for depth. At least go for size/grit like s zubrus type.

Ive heard thoreson has done well in the k. But gritty over there isnt exactly gritty over here. Either way, i just have the vision of the absolutely useless, small player that was totally lost during his time here. Think he was a little better in philly, but still got the axe.

Either way, im not all that interested in tambs type no risk moves any longer. We need more than to hope barker or foster can make any kind of difference.
Its time for some semi bold moves and to get to the playoffs.

If you're set on low risk players, At the very least take a flyer on an unknown belov type. Dont just recycle barker or thoreson.

Fair opinion. Im of the mind that you ought sign a balance of risks and safe picks. The fact remains that we need depth, diversity of talent, and straight up better players.

No thanks to Clowe, he's probably tailing off and after a 4 year contract I think there will be a ton of regret in that contract.

Bickell with the way he is playing the Hawks may find a way to move things around to keep him. That being the case, might be worth offering up a low pick to the Hawks for Kyle Beach. It's a calculated risk but the guy has talent, he's a mean bastard, and would be able to chip in offensively at a relatively low price and would be a guy that could be signed to a 2-way contract for a year and see how it pans out.
