It took me so long to switch to 12 when it came out I was actually still playing 11 when I got 13 lmao but I have totally switched to 13. It was just killing me how long it would take to sim in 12 and 13 I could do like 3-4 seasons in 11 in the time you could do one in 12 and 13 but hopefully when the new systems come out the sim time will be a lot less I rarely actually play any games cause I get bored to fast so I just sim. Pretty much unless I have to win a game or something.
- blizzzard

Yeah it does take forever, though I play pretty much every game. Because of that I only go through a few seasons max each year, so I have no problem trading all my future first rounders for more star power

Though honestly, who needs draft picks when you have Tavares, Hall, Huberdeau, and Grigorenko?

the loading time for EVERYTHING in 13 is painful. I play all the games, but when I have to sim 3 days to get to the next game I can run to the bathroom and back and it'll just be finishing!
- MartysBetter88

Oh I know and if you try to sim and walk away first thing that happens is a trade comes up that you have already refused 3 times or a scouting update or anything that could possibly stop the simulation lol

Just a random thought but imagine if we had offensive prospects do you think we could land Letang for the 9th pick ? would anyone do it ? would the pens want a lot more then that? We have a second rounder right ? if we drafted right we might be able to pull that off this year I mean lots of star players have been taken in the 2nd round Elias was a 2nd rounder would that be a chance anyone would want to take having a guy who can make good outlet passes to Kovy and put up points from the point would help out our offense without adding a forward. Just some thoughts that popped into my head might make a fun discussion lol

I personally think Letang is overrated and will wind up making way more money than he should. If we were trying to make a blockbuster trade I'd rather go for a potential top line forward, like Vanek or Ryan.

Yea I just posted about Ryan in the Ducks blog like 2 seconds ago I would love to add him but if he has publicly stated he wants a trade to Philly or did he never say he wanted to go there ? either way if he did and wants to play for a rival of ours I don't see him wanting to play for us. Vanek I feel on and off about he can put up points but he takes every other year off and has 1 year left and after the season he just had he might be wanting another 7 million dollar contract and I don't want him for that much but that brings me back to Letang I guess he will probably want 7 as well. Things really would be a lot easier if we had a billionaire owner like the big spenders it would be nice to offer sheet a young stud for once lol. Realistically though I am fine with drafting whoever is there at 9 and not moving the pick at all.

Ya while Ryan is from NJ he grew up a Flyers fan and has stated he'd love to play there, not to mention the Flyers' tendency to make big trades like that.

Speaking of the Flyers, I wouldn't be that surprised if Briere signs with NJ after he's bought out. He lives in Jersey and has kids in Philly schools, so he probably doesn't want to go far. Definitely not the ideal player for NJ to add but depending on what happens with our free agents could be a decent add for 1 or 2 years. I've always hated Briere, but in a "I'd love him if he were on my team" kind of way.

Personally, I don't feel like Briere would be a good fit. But like you said, there are strong reasons why he'd sign here.

So long as he comes cheap and we make the playoffs he would be a great pick up.

He only seems to have anything in the playoffs that's why I say if he is cheap and we make the playoffs if we don't which you can only assume then he would be good but I think next year is 50-50 we make it or don't.

My worries are more based on his lack of size, much weaker on the wing, and he still does not know what he's doing in the defensive zone. While he's scored big goals, he still has trouble with all these problems in the playoffs.

lol to be honest from my understanding he is a good goalie when behind a good defensive system but I still wouldn't offer him a contract I would rather over pay for Bernier then sign Bryz for nothing.

:/ I wish someone with a poop-zillion dollars would come and whisk the Devils off the Beek's hands. Have to think that if the Devils provided Lou any money to spend, we'd have Parise, Clarky, and Elias in the bag. Lou isn't stupid, I think he must be up against a wall with no money to build a team.

That is why the vast majority of our contracts are 1-2 years in length, because we don't know where our finances will be at from year to year. That is the only reason I can come up with as to why the Devils haven't worked towards building any kind of young core locked up long term.

Le sigh.

That so true if we had a billionaire owner we likely would have zero doubts going into next season but we are like Nashville right now and cant afford to do much of anything. Sometimes I dream about us having a flyers or rangers off season although they rarely work for them it would just be nice to know we can throw money around and aren't to be f*cked with

The Zajac contract is horrible that's all I can say. If we had a rich owner we wouldn't have to overpay guys just to stay or sign with us

Thank you. That bigtime overpayment was the only way we were going to keep him from going to Winnipeg

After the season he just had I honestly have a hard time liking him next year he needs to be miles better OFFENSIVLY to be honest I don't care what he does on the other side of the puck we never had to pay John Madden a stupid amount of money for just that he need to put up numbers next season or we are stuck with him and that contract. I don't think he has any value at all when teams look at his contract and last season if he played for a team with money he would be discussed as a buy out

Two ridiculous contracts does anything but demonstrate stability.

Parise walked at 27, Paul Martin walked at 28, Gomez walked at 27, Clarkson is going to walk at 29. Those are all players we could have built around at the time. ...Except Gomez, because we can all still have a laugh at how that turned out

The owner has nothing to do with how much a guy is going to demand. If we had a more wealthy owner it would be less of an issue if we paid a guy a lot.
